The Hunger Games; Eplogue; Katniss and Peeta

This series will be all based on Katniss' POV, just like in the original series. It'll take place right after Mockingjay.

When I wake up it's early morning. Peeta is lying right beside me with his strong arms wrapped around me. I really don't want to move and wake him, but I have to go back to my place.

I get up, slowly, trying not to disturb him. I go downstairs and leave a note, so he doesn't get worried. Afterwards, I walk out the door and dash to my house in the Victors Village. I change quickly into my hunting clothes, and I head out for the woods.

The fence is taken down, because there really aren't any districts anymore, so I just walk straight into the now autumn colored foliage that I used to call my home.

I grab my bow and arrows-which I still hide in the same place-and I decide to go to the pond. I slowly walk down there, taking in all of the smells and sights and sounds. I haven't been here in awhile.

It seems odd to be walking down to the pond without Gale. We've shared so many memories together out here. Now Gale is somewhere in 2. I haven't seen him in what seems like forever, even through it probably has only been about 7 months.

I stop in my tracks as I hear somebody else's feet crunch the fallen brown and orange leaves on the ground. I slowly, silently walk toward whatever was making that noise. Bow ready, feet steady.

The noise was coming from around the pond. Probably a deer.

But I was wrong, because next thing I know, I hear the words I've longed to here-- "Hey, Catnip!"
