He remembers it like it was yesterday..
Tyler loves his family, his older sister, Mystic, always told him stories until Tyler wanted to hear a horror story. Mystic told him the story of The Red Sea Serpent, a story that Tyler would never forget..
"Mystic, Mystic! Can you tell me a scary story?" The young seven year old asked, looking up at his ten year old sister, she was very tall.
"You promise you won't tell mom and dad?" Mystic answered with another question, looking down at her brother.
"Promise! I pinkie promise!!" He squeaked.
"Alright... here it goes Ty." She sat down on the floor, Tyler sat down next to her. Mystic continued,"Once upon a time...A sea serpent, a red one to be exact... The serpent would take the lives of the people that would try to leave this very island. If the adults or even children want to go beyond the coral reef would have to face the red serpent. It wasn't the best thing, unless you were the master of the serpent but he died on this island decades ago, the serpent still remembers like it was yesterday though. What's the serpents name, you may be asking, it's Fluffy." Tyler tried not giggle to the name but he couldn't hold it in, he giggled, so did his sister.
"Fluffy? Really?" He asked.
"Sh, let me finish." Mystic giggled. "Fluffy has killed many people, but one day this boy that is was an orphan wanted to go find his real family. That meant he had to go beyond the reef, he faced Fluffy. The serpent, when he saw his face, it looked familiar to Fluffy, he didn't dare to hurt the orphan but something took over him that took the orphan apart, limb by limb, blood every where, the people of this island saw it happen with their very eyes, the boy no longer exsisted, he was dead, with his true family in heaven. But the red sea serpent when it came to, it stared at the boy, the serpent didn't want to ever get close to any human but not so long ago, crazy humans tried to leave this island on more time, the serpent didn't interfere so he let them go, then a ship wanted to leave the island, the serpent with all the anger in his body, rose up hissing at the ship, attacking the ship, some jumped off but that didn't help at all the serpent ate them whole. Fluffy killed multiple lives, once he was sure everyone was dead he went back, under that ocean. Some say he's sleeping until someone tries to leave. Do you dare to try to leave and probably get killed or even eaten alive?..." Mystic finished, making a hand movement that looked like her hands ate his head.
"NOO!" Tyler shrieked, running towards his mother. "Mommy! Is it true the the Red Sea Serpent eats people alive?"
"No its not true, Mystc, why did you tell him that story? He is only seven!" Their mother, Abigail shouted.
"But he wanted a scary story!!" Mystic complained.
"Don't listen to him then." Abigail responded. "Tyler, the serpent isn't real, it's just a myth."
"Yeah, until someone proves it that it's not, wait it was!" Mystic shouted. "It's real I swear mom! This one time I went with a friend to the beach and we saw this ship get destroyed by something red!!"
"Probably a shark." Their mother calmly answered,
'No shark is red!!" Mystic whinned.
"I believe it!" Tyler squeaked.
"You believe anything Tyler." Abigail said. "Enough, go outside and play for a little bit."
The siblings did as said.A few years past Tyler was fifteen, he was left with his aunt and uncle while his parents left on a boat, he feared that the serpent might get them. He knew they were fine though, they called often but he didn't understand why they didn't take him with them, or where they went. He wanted to find them but he was to scared that the serpent might get him, tear him limb by limb, or even eat him alive. But once he was twenty, he got over the fear but not completely though, he wanted to find his parents, just like the orphan in the story...
