I looked at him and my heart tore. He was lying on the ground in a puddle, the low white light from his car shining down on his face. Blood was pouring from his mouth and I couldn't even tell where else. Running to him, I felt time slow. It was as if running as fast as I could wasn't fast enough. Each second it took to get to him was agonizing. I fell to his side and cradled his head in my lap. No matter how hard I shook, he wouldn't wake up. Tears where streaming down my face and blurring my vision. I could feel him slipping away from me, leaving me here...alone. I cried and I yelled and I screamed. It was silent except for the quiet sound of the raindrops hitting the pavement. The rain had slowed down into a drizzle, but I hardly noticed. I lost him, and without him, there was hardly a me.
