Prologue:

I was sitting in my home reading an old book, sipping my tea when I heard it. Every hair on my body stuck up and my bones tensed.

My book fell from my hands and hit the floor with a thud, but not a loud as the thud on my front door. They are here. I have to leave. Now. Before it's to late. This can't be happening, the prophecy is not supposed to take effect until next year... I ran upstairs and grabbed my briefcase, coat, hat, and sword. I looked down from the window and when I saw it was clear, I jumped. I landed well and ran.

I heard the howling, the rapid footsteps, the were pursuing me and they were definitely a lot faster than I was. I was almost there. To the rendezvous point. I called in Nick Surry on my phone fast and told him to pick me up. He was coming as fast as he could but I was afraid he would be too late.

I heard the helicopter, it flew right over me and hovered about 20 meters away.

"Come on, hurry! They are behind you!" Nick yelled to me. I ran like I had never before. When I reached the helicopter, I leapt in and as we were flying away, a beast jumped on the side, it was to dark to see its details, but it had ruby red eyes that glowed magnificently. It bit my leg hardly and I kicked it off and it fell into the void of darkness. That was painful.

"Go," I said to Nick, "you need to go to the helicarrier now." He nodded slightly and continued to fly off into the night.

Chapter One:

I awoke in an infirmary with 2 doctors around me and another man I didn't recognize. The room was all white with medical equipment everywhere. I saw Nick on a bench reading a car magazine.

"Where am I?" I asked to everybody. They all exchanged looks and Nick put down his magazine and stood up next to the man.

"Here is a refresher: you ran out of your house when the beasts attacked and I saved your life," said Nick impatiently. I tried to take this in and I remembered. The prophecy came true about a year before it was meant to. We were only in the preparation phase nowhere near completion.

"I am Director Suder and I am a new replacement for Director Polter who was killed in a plane crash a few days ago," the man said. A lot is going on at once. My closest friend is dead?! And nobody told me?!

"What about my bite?" I ask one of the doctors hoping for the best.

"I don't think I should be the one to break it to you, sir," she said worriedly. I don't understand.

"Let's cut to the chase: if you don't find the antidote to your bite within 10 days, then you will die," said Suder, " you should probably get a move on."

Chapter 2:

I got my things together that night and got a good rest for the next day. I would be setting of with Nick, Suder, and some girl i have never met. I was sceduled to meet my team on the launchpad so we could begin our mission, but things went a little... differently than planned.

I was about to head down to the launchpad, when the whole helicarrier shifted. I thought it was nothing and I started to head down. Then when I saw a body of a commanding officer fly a few yards in front of me, I took out my newly supplied gun and loaded it. Then, this humanoid creature walked in front of me and looked to its left then to its right and thats when it saw me.

I shot the gun, but it had not effect on the creature, it merely just bounced of its metal chestplating. When I had no other plan, I ran in the opposite direction, away from the launchpad, and the only way off the ship, I didnt know my way around perfectly, but I knew enough to confuse the creature enough well, that's what I thought. I kept running and I could feel it getting closer. I turned a corner and ran intoo Nick, without saying anyhthing, he held up a rocket launcher and when the beast turned the corner, he blasted it to buts and it dissolved into a dark mist.

"Thanks," I said out of breath.

"Don't mention it. Now we need to get to the launchpad. The creatures that you encountered that night, the one that you just encountered, and many more have invaded the ship, we have lost and now we have to go," Nick said very fast. I nodded and we ran back where I had come from.

Chapter 3:

We made it to the launchpad with no disruptions. The doors opened and we saw Suder, and a girl that looked about 14, my age. We walked over.

"About time," Suder said, "we were going to leave without you!" Nick kept a straight face and so did I. We all climbed into the plane and we took off. "If you were a minute later, we would all be dead," Suder said to Nick and me. At that moment, as if on cue, the helicarrier exploded and debris went everywhere. We nearly got hit, but the pilot veered out of the way.

Nick and Suder got into a heated conversation that I didn't bother to listen too. I gazed out the window. I thought about my chances of even surviving this mission. I have training and I am smart enough to hold my own. But, I am fighting against ancient creatures that I dont even know anything about.

"Hey I'm Molly," said the girl sitting across from me. She was beautiful. She had dirty-blond hair and a cute smile. She had a pistol in a holster on her right side and a rifle slung on her back.

"Hi, I'm James," I replied. I was going to spark a converstation when we got hit. BOOM! The whole helicopter shook violently. Molly and I fell off the benches. Suder ran back into the hold.

"Put the parchutes on, now," he said, "we are jumping out." We rushed bach into the storage compartment without a single word. Molly got on for her and one for Suder. I got one for Nick as well as me. We ran back to the hold exchanged the parachutes. Nick opened the doors and we prepared to jump. We got hit again and Suder slipped out of the door and fell down to the Earth.

Chapter 4:

"NO!" screamed Molly. I reached for his hand but missed by a mile. Nick looked into the cockpit and tried to stabilize the helicopter but failed. Molly looked at me and I must of looked scared because she grabbed my hand. "On three," she said, "three, two, one!" We flew out the door and went speeding toward the ground. I looked up and saw Nick dive out right before the helicopter flew out of control and hit the peak of a mountain. The blast propelled us to the right and we nearly hit a cliff edge.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!" we all screamed in unison. I looked to the side at Molly and her eyes were closed and her lips were pursed.

"OPEN YOUR PARACHUTES NOW!!!!" Nick screamed at the top of his lungs. I reached back with my available hand and activated it and Molly did the same. I heard Nick's parachute open too. We glided to the ground and landed in some tall grasses. Molly and I were still holding hands.

I sat up after a few minutes and looked around. It was dark. Then I remembered. Suder is somewhere around here. I woke Molly and we went over to where Nick was and we woke him as well.

"We need to find Suder," I said to him and Molly, "now." Nick nodded and Molly looked down at the ground.

"I agree. He is around here somewhere. But we don't know if he activated his parachute," she said. I didn't think of that. In the spur of the moment, he could've not been thinking about it and hit the ground and died. I barely knew him, but he was still a friend. Molly stood up and said, " Ok let's go." Nick and I stood up and exchanged looks. She took lead and we walked slowly behind her making sure not to go ahead of her. We walked for a while and then she said, "Oh my god."
