Chicago, Illinois

Sunrise had finally come to the top floor of The Vanity; a full seven minutes before it would even be visible to the ground. Ambrosius stood by the glass gazing into blissful oblivion.

Awaiting his parents imminent return. Soon they would be having breakfast, but before that, he needed to clear out his mind. As such he simply stayed looking as the clouds rolled in to the city. Thick fog that swallowed up and surrounded even the mightiest of skyscrapers Chicago had to offer.

Only a handful pierced through the thick blanket of obscurity and even then the tallest tower was 2,000 feet beneath him. Barely scraping the surface.

The sky is always blue at the top after all.

"Master." Ambrosius heard his butler call. "Mr. and Mrs. Sidorov will be landing in five minutes. Would you care to greet them at the airpad?"

Ambrosius contemplated the proposal for a second and was about to agree, until he remembered that it was the middle of winter and fifteen degrees on the ground meant ten below zero at the top.

No way would he be subjected to the cruel conditions Chicago had to offer. Though it was not as bad as his home in Vladivostok.

"All formalities aside, Nathan, I think I will pass on greeting mom and dad. Lord knows it will be windy up there and quite frankly, I like the idea of staying warm."

"Very well. Will you be needing anything else?"

"Have the jet on stand by. I need to go to Washington D.C. soon. Then again, you already knew that."

"Understood, Master." Nathan's heels clicked against the marble as he retreated from the floor, leaving Ambrosius alone with his own silence.

"Thank you, Nathan." Ambrosius stated but Nathan was already gone.

Slowly he turned to face back outside towards the city. A blank poker face carved on his pale features. His reflection almost blended right in to the clouds. He never got tired of this view. Being so far up in the sky his nearest neighbors were thousands of feet away.

It was peaceful up here with nothing but silence. Blissful Silence.. Alone as he was, there was nothing he would not give for his life to be as peaceful as he was feeling right now. To be free of the tumultuous past that haunted him. To forget the nightmares he had every night for the past seven years.

To forget them.

Valentina and Damien.

As far as Ambrosius was concerned, forgetting all about them would be the ultimate blessing.
