I was dreading going back but I needed to finish so I could be a teacher. Mrs. Monangall promised me if I completed my 7th year she'd hold the Potions position. It's always been my dream to teach potions but to go back. To go back to the place I lost everything. I breathed in deeply looking at the familiar train in front of me. I closed my eyes and let out the breathe. I stepped onto the train and found our old compartment. I looked in and tears swelled in my eyes not seeing the two familiar faces I saw for the last 6 years. My hand found its way to the locket that hung loosely around my neck. Three pieces fitted together but nobody to wear the other two. Three pieces to a heart. I sighed and sat down willing myself not to let the tears fall. I looked at the door and my heart felt like it was going to burst.

C.D. J.H. R.N.

Cedric Diggory, Joy Hallak, and lastly Rylyn Nightmoore.

Our second year and Ced's third year we carved our initials in the door to claim the compartment. I laughed a little to myself. I didn't want to do it, scared we'd get in trouble but Ced and Joy convinced me it'd be fine.  The next 3 years we had admired our work. That and our necklaces were symbols of our friendship. When Ced died during the tournament his 6th year Joy made me take his necklace saying since I bought them I deserved to wear it. I didn't think the next year I'd be wearing hers. I shook my head trying to rid the images of my best friends not breathing. Not moving, not laughing, not arguing like they did best over stupid stuff. I knock at the door startled me out of my thoughts. I looked to see a boy standing in the doorway his head hung low.

"I-I'm sorry to bother you but the other compartments seem to be full may I sit here?" The voice sounded familiar. He looked up and I immediately knew who it was. Draco Malfoy.

"I don't own the space, of course you can sit." I smiled at him. I knew how people treated him after the war. I always wondered why I could never bring myself to hate him. I kinda did know though. Under all the mean exterior he was doing what he needed to survive and isn't that was life is about surviving? He made mistakes, we all do. He looked taken aback at my smile but nodded and sat down across from me. I put my head on the window and stared out. We hadn't moved yet but I still liked watching first years say goodbye to their parents or panic not knowing where to go. To only think that was me 6 years ago. Another slytherin judging by his robes walked into the room and stared at Draco before looking over to me.

"Watch out you've got a death eater sitting across from you." He laughed. Draco didn't move or open his mouth.

"Excuse me?" I said standing up.

"Just though you should know. You should rethink letting him sit with you. Everybody else was smart enough to kick him out."

"Well what I think is it's time for you to get out." I glared at the boy. He just smiled at me.

"Aren't you Rylyn?" I nodded my head not knowing where this was going but I knew it'd be bad. "Didn't your best friends both die because of Voldemort and his little death eaters." I clenched my fists. "Now look at you sticking up for someone who helped."

"Did he raise a wand at Cedric? No. Was he the werewolf I had to get off my best friend? No! And if I were you I'd leave now." I was seething.

"Such a shame you were the only one out of you three who lived. I doubt either of them would've let him sit."

"I knew them and they would've. They would've because unlike you we had compassion and we were respectful to others. So I'll give you one more try. Get out." A couple tears spilled over but I still held my stance and the glare on my face.

"You're gonna let a mudblood fight your battles Malfoy? I guess that happens when you no longer have dad-" I cut the boy off my punching him. He held his nose in his hands and I could see blood seeping down. "You bitch."

"I gave you two warnings. Now I think it'd be best if you left." I replied pushing him out the door before shutting it. I sat back down and pulled my legs to my chest.

"You didn't have to do that." I heard Draco say quietly.

"You weren't doing anything so someone had to."

"But what he said was true."

"No what he said was complete rubbish. Look at me." He looked up. "We all make mistakes and even though yours was very bad, people have done worse."

"Thank you."
