I smile as I find myself in his arms for the first time in Lord knows how long. I place my palm over his heart and my arm dimmly glows green.

"So now you're whole body can turn green?" Jake asks in a sleepy voice.

"Apparently. I just know how to use the shield, I've never seen this before." I reply. I lift my hand and the green goes away. I slightly roll in his arms to face him.

"I miss having you with me every night." He states.

"I miss it too, Jakey." I whisper before dropping my head to his chest. "Here soon, we can do it again every night, like we used to. I promise."

"I know." He says rubbing my back.

"Damn, it feels nice to actual get a whole eight hours of sleep." I smirk. He slightly chuckles and wraps his arms tightly around my torso. "I mean, it's been a long fucking time since the last time I slept for at least five hours, let alone eight."

"Actually, we slept ten, but, I get your point." He states.

"Ten? That's even better than eight." I say. "I should start appearing at your window in the middle of the night more often."

"Doesn't bother me any, princess." He slightly rocks me side to side.

"I love you." I smile.

"I love you." We kiss a few times before my phone starts ringing. We both groan and I grab my phone.

"What Lydia?" I answer slightly annoyed.

"Where the hell are you!?! You were supposed to go on the date with Douglas then come back!!! Not just randomly fucking disappear!!!" She blows up.

"Chill, damn, I'm at Jake's house, and very well alive and safe." I reply.

"At least leave a note or something! Don't just disappear with all anyone knows that you went on a date with the enemy! Well, one of them, at least." She says. "But none the less you were dead for all we know!!!"

"Lydia, you are a banshee, you would know if I was dead." I deadpan.

"None of the others would!"

"Lyds, I'm fine, just calm down."

"Oh, and Jackson said something about Megan, and Mo and Jared, Kolon, chimera, and you'd understand? But whatever."

"Tell him I'll be there in about an hour."

"Okay.?" I hang up and sigh.

"We have an hour." I say throwing my phone down. "Let's make the most of it."

I walk into the small conference room and Jackson follows.

"Should we tell the others?" He asks.

"Not all of them, because obviously, w need to watch who we speak around." I reply. "I'll bring in Lydia, Danielle, Avery and Sean."

"Yeah." He nods. I walk out and send Avery to get the others. They file in and we all sit around the table.

"What you're about to hear, stays in this room and doesn't leave ever. Is that understood?" I say authoritively. They all nod. "This thing with the chimeras, Morgan, Jared, and Kolon dying, Megan dying and coming back, it's connected somehow. I don't think Megan ever died, I think she was bitten and stayed away long enough to learn control. When Kolon said he was there when she died, he watched her get bit, and in order for him to live he had to say she died. He told Morgan and Jared, so the chimeras killed them, or bit them. Delyla may have been been hit man, sent after Mo and Jared because when they were bit they would've waited to tell me before they killed themselves. Kolon had no way of telling me, so he took care of the job himself. More people were finding out, or simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and were killed or bitten. I know what to do about Douglas now, but that plan stays with me bevause no one else is involved. Megan told me about a hellhound that Chris and Gerard were trying to make or find, either she's actually on our side, or she needs me to know about it. I'm going with the last one because she's never been able to be trusted." I bite my lip. "That's all you really needed to know for now."

Two days later..

"Come on out mother! Not even the sewage can hide your scent!" I say walking through the sewer. "Even though it is the ideal place for a rat." I smirk.

"So, you finally figured me out huh?" She says stepping into view. "Or that's what you think at least." Two giant creatures of bone step out from where she came. Berserkers.

"No, I have, just like I know that you're back there too Danielle." I state. "That's right, you thought that you'd be able to get away with all of this, but you didn't know that I was ahead of you this whole time." I slowly step forward. "There was never a hellhound, that was just a diversion to distract me so you could have time to perfect your master plan, which failed. You were devoted to Christopher, you'd never take my side over his. And I knew you knew I was coming." I tilt my chin up slightly. "That's why I brought Danielle in to hear the conspiracies. So she could tell you and you could find a way on how to fight back." One corner of my mouth tugs up. "Seems like a couple of berserkers, a set of claws, and those arrows laced with mercury is all you could come up with. Not very creative."

"It's better than what you have." Megan jibes. I race and eyebrow before looking over my shoulder and making my eyes change to green, humming a slight tune. Around the corner comes a man, engulfed in bright green and red flames, his eyes orange and teal. I turn back around and smile at my mother.

"I said there was never a hellhound in your plan, I never said it didn't exist."
