It's really nothing out of the ordinary for me. At first I thought it was indigestion. Then it felt too strange to be that. I started feeling it in my chest too. Like a snake sliding around my lungs and licking my heart. It slid around my intestines, not in them. Sometimes it decided to bite my side or nibble my toe. Sometimes it felt like spiders crawling under my skin. Giving me loving kisses as they went, at times I felt a little fish wiggling under my lips begging for air. It felt like I had a zoo inside of me.
It started as far as I can remember. I was about 5 years old and I was at my birthday party. I ate a slice of the ice cream cake. A few minutes later I felt a baby snake wiggling and sliding around my belly. It ate all of my cake, ny poor cake. I was upset and I yelled at the snake.
"I'm sorry." The snake said. "I must eat too, must I not?"
I was so startled by the fact that the snake could speak that I dropped the cup of water I was drinking. "Y-you can speak?!" I shouted and all heads turned to me, the children backed away from me giving me looks that said 'what is wrong with him?'
I looked down as a blush spread across my cheeks and ears.
"It's okay." The snake spoke to me softly. I imagined it with soft yellow eyes and a small black body.
I smiled softly and went to eat my cake again.
As I grew up I made more friends. I was terrified of real spiders and real snakes but the ones in my body I loved. They had names and birthdays. They had stories.
