"Hey there Xavier, how you holding up?" Asked Aunt Hannah.

Now, honestly, I was really confused.

"Aunt Hannah?" I questioned, "h-how are you here? Dad said you were visiting a friend in Australia?"
"Oh yea I was, but that doesn't matter for the moment" she brushed off, "how are you feeling?" I was suspicious to say the least, this seemed way too weird.  She was definitely my aunt though, a bright and cheerful personality, amazing smile and short brown hair just like always.
"I think I'm ok, The Doctor said I'm not though, I don't believe him." I replied to her.
"Well kiddo you gotta remember that he's the professional, not you. If he thinks your not okay, then chances are you're probably not." She retorted.
"Are you sure I can't leave?" I asked her cautiously.
"Honestly you probably could but I don't think that's good idea Xavier," she replied in a more serious tone, "how about I go find the nurse and see what they say, I'll be right back Xav, don't move to far."
"Ok Aunt Hannah." I said back to her as she got off the bed, she went to walk out of the room and talked back with glance at me before moving down the corridor and closing the door behind her.

Staying here seemed pointless to me, I didn't feel any pain when moving around, I wasn't tired, and at least in my opinion I could think straight, well, as straight as I normally do anyway. I sat up and looked down the collar of the hospital gown, I had several electrodes attached to my chest for the heart monitor that was next to my bed. I reached into the gown and gathered all the wires into one hand and plucked them all off at once. The machine made a long, loud beep before becoming silent. I looked at it intently hoping it wouldn't make any more noise. After a few seconds I thought that if it was going to go off then it was going to go off and there wasn't anything I could do about it anyway. The hospital room was bare except for every normal thing found in a hospital room. Except that is for the white rose laid down on the table at the end of my bed. Underneath it was a white piece of paper and a message written in beautiful flowing handwriting.

In the End all that matters is that his life did not go to waste.
Honour his memory, and find the truth.
The world is in your hands now Xavier, your time has come.

I honestly had no idea what it meant but I put the rose and the message into the bag that Hannah had brought me and took out the clothes that were in there. A black t-shirt, black button-up shirt, socks, shoes and trousers all black and topped off with an equally black belt. Not exactly my style, but maybe we were going to my dad's funeral from here? Aunt Hannah didn't really tell me anything about what was going on.

I took off the hospital gown and dressed in the crisp black outfit. I was about to walk out, and noticed a black suit jacket hanging in the corner of the room. It made sense to be mine too, its black, and with the other very black clothes I've already been given, why wouldn't this be mine. It really wasn't my style though. I took the bag and carrying it over one shoulder peeped out the door.

Looking through the crack as best I could, I tried to make sure there was no one in the corridor. I couldn't hear anyone talking or moving around. Opening the door a bit more I poked my head out quickly looking down each way and whipping back in. There was a nurse washing their hands but the hallway was otherwise empty. Remembering an emergency exit several rooms down from mine, and in the opposite direction of the nurse. I made sure I had my things and checked if they had moved. There were two now, talking to each other, one with their back to me. It was now or never I thought. I made a run for it. The quick dash, not even ten metres seemed to take all eternity. I could hear the nurses behind me call out to me as I was about half way there.
"Sir, stop!" one said, "You're badly injured Sir!" said the other, finishing just as I pushed through the door.
