Chapter 32. [The Match]

SECOND PERSON

Students flocked in the 3rd Gymnasium of Shiratorizawa finding themselves a seat or standing somewhere far from the court. Shiratorizawa's volleyball team was on the 2nd Gymnasium and when they heard that a volleyball match was about to happen they wanted to watch. They were thrilled at what was going to happen between their friend Y/n, and Akira. They heard that Akira challenged Y/n to a volleyball match and they were worried because Akira was the best female volleyball player in Shiratorizawa but not rivalling Ushijima of course.
After a while of waiting Y/n entered the gym on her gym clothes following behind her was 2 girls shorter than her. They recognized the 2 girls as members of the female volleyball team. Asahina Mei [Libero] and Shizuka Kai [Setter]. They don't seem to care about anyone with their bored expressions but something was different with their aura. Like they have a strange connection between them. On the other entrance of the gym appeared Akira and other two girls of the same height. They look so full of themselves.

They all headed towards the center of the court and spoke some words then afterwards headed to their own side. Each positioned themselves on a certain spot and someone blew the whistle to start the game. Akira dribbled the ball and tossed it high to the air then slammed it down towards Y/n.

Y/n moved to the side to let Mei receive the ball and it flew to the Setter Shizuka who tossed it to the air. Without words spoken in between Y/n jumped up to perform a spike and fortunately it got past the receiver of the opponent.

The ball made a loud sound as it slammed to the ground. Eyes widened and the whole gym went silent for a few seconds before it erupted to loud cheers.

"Oh? Does Y/n play volleyball?" Tendou asked Semi to which he just shrugged.

The game started again as each team started gaining point after point until they were tied. Akira finally warmed up from the previous plays decided to increase pressure on her spikes. While Y/n on the other hand decided to wait for the right moment to do a winning spike.

Akira was to perform a jump serve and in the blink of an eye, it got past Y/n who blinked in surprise. Her jump serve earned a point and she cheered with her teammates. Y/n frowned and readied her stance once again as Akira started to perform another Jump serve. Once the ball launched towards Y/n she quickly moved aside and Mei received the ball making it fly upwards. Y/n and Shizuka got to their planned positions and Shizuka set the ball towards Y/n. In the blink of an eye, she jumped high enough and spiked the ball straight down near the net making the opponent's libero unable to receive the ball. A loud smack was once again heard on the clear wooden floor of the gym as people gawked.

The game continued until it reached to 28+ points, and it was once again Y/n's time to serve.

Since their score was one point behind, she decided to at least warm up her trump card. She tossed the ball high up in the air and got ready to do a jump serve. She ran towards the ball's direction and jumped up high putting half energy on her left hand then spiked the ball towards the other court with her palm and fingers working together to direct the ball on a target she acquired. The opponent's libero wasn't able to receive the ball because of fear and surprise.

"Woaaah! Miracle girl!" Tendou reacted from the stands. The others were astonished as well. That spike of hers was a tad bit near Ushijima's spikes. This earned them a point making their score equal. Y/n glanced at Akira whose right eye twitched in annoyance. She glared at Y/n with hate but she just shrugged it off.
It was once again Y/n's time to do another serve. She repeated the same pattern and led the ball to another direction that would surely destroy the equilibrium of the opponent. It once again earned another score.

One more point and they will win.

~[Haikyuu]~

A certain coach of the male volleyball team walked by the third gymnasium to check up on what the fuss was about. As he crossed by the door his eyes immediately widened as his eyes watched a certain blonde jump up to spike a ball to the opposing team.

Just by that scene alone, his high standards were met. He was frozen as he watched the ball slam loudly to the wooden floor flattening itself halfway before jumping upwards higher than the net. The comparison between that serve and Ushijima's was identical. Cheers erupted from inside the gym and a whistle blew off signalling that someone won.

The coach entered the gym and looked at the far side of the court of the blonde to see that the score was 32-34. The blonde's team won.

The blonde walked towards her two companions clapping with them as she said a few words with a small smile.

His eyes caught sight of a tall red haired boy cheering from the left side of the gym along with the male volleyball team. He once again stared at the blonde who was now talking to her opponent. Without nothing more to see, he left the gym and headed towards the faculty.

~[Haikyuu]~

"As promised, you will leave this school" The blonde said as she sighed out and put her hands on her hips.

"Whatever, I'd be happy to not see your face again anyway" the black haired girl said as she went out of the gymnasium. The other students went out as well to head home. Y/n watched Akira's figure disappear and she heard heavy footsteps coming towards her direction. Her head whipped to the other direction to see that the male Volleyball team was walking towards her.

"That was amazing Y/n san~!" Tendou said

"Nice job" Ushijima said in his usual poker face as the others nodded.

"Tsukishima san, have you been playing volleyball before?" Shirabu asked and she turned towards the boy.

"Yeah, I did when I was in middle school" she said concentrating her weight on one foot as she leaned a bit to the side.

"How can you spike like that until now?" Semi asked

"I don't know, I guess I still got my spunk" she said and walked to a spot to get a volleyball ball then turned around to face the team.

"Mind playing volleyball for a while?"

~[Haikyuu]~

Y/n, Shirabu, Goshiki, and Tendou was sprawled all over the wooden floor as they tried to catch their breath from too much exhaustion.

"You do know that over exerting yourself is not good" Semi said as he watched the 4 players groan out. Ushijima drank from his water bottle with a bit of sweat trickling down his body. A towel resting on his shoulders as well as the other third years.

"Aren't you guys supposed to be practising awhile ago?" the female blonde asked as she slowly stood up from her spot.

"Yeah but Manager and coach had to do some errands." Reon answered

"Coach said for us to rest since we have been practising hardcore for the past days" Hayato answered

"Must be tiring, anyway I'm going ahead. See you sometime and thanks for the interesting play" she smiled as she walked out of the gym with her bag on her shoulder.
The volleyball team then started to put away all of the volleyball equipment.

"Ne Ushijima, Y/n is your classmate right?" Tendou asked as he pushed the volleyball cart towards the storage room.

"Yes, why?" he asked

"I was wondering, have you talked with each other?"

"Yes"

"It's just unbelievable that she has been playing in middle school and that spike just now was her spike before" Tendou said as he placed the cart in one spot.

"Yes, no wonder Goshiki nearly had a large bruise on his forearms." Ushijima commented as they headed out of the storage room.

Welp, I'm having a hard time deciphering what next scene I'll put and at the same time I'm too busy with school works so continue to expect slow updates. Sorry guys.
