A Love To Remember
I was only 7 years old when it happened.
My life would change forever.
My mom (Becky) was from North Carolina
My dad (Mack) was from Maine
My dad came up to NC for a vacation with a friend. My moms friend meet this guy and he had a friend. So my moms friend brought my mom with her. my mom saw the man that was with him. that man was my dad Mack. and they fell in love. my mom moved in with him and then my mom and my dad both moved down to Maine to live with my dad.
Then my mom and dad got married, then they had me. at the age of 2 I got a sister her name is Kayla.when I was 2 my dad was diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma ( Blood Cancer). All my life my dad went back and forth to the hospital for treatments and such.
when I was 7 my dad got really sick with a fever on the 4th of July. and on the forth of July we always went to the parade then a picnic and fireworks. but he said my, Kayla ,and mom could go ahead without him. and he would go with us to fireworks. but he got so sick he had to go to the hospital. during the fireworks my dad was at the hospital.about a week later the doctors there said they couldn't help him and they didn't know what was wrong with him. so they sent him to the hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
my mom and grandma went with my dad and me and Kayla stayed with my grandpa. then my grandpa said we where going on a trip so we ended up going to Boston. at this time I was still 7 years old and my sister Kayla was only 6.
When we got to Boston we stayed at my uncles for a week of so. one day my mom brought me and Kayla to the hospital to say goodbye to my dad.and we said our goodbyes. Then they brought us home. but my mom, grandma, and aunt stayed at the hospital. late that night they came home all crying they all tried to find a way to tell us that he died then my mom told us and EVERY ONE started crying.
The next day we went home. It was hard for me and Kayla. Kayla would just keep it all balled in inside and never talk about it. but I would hide and start crying. my life has never been the same with out my dad. no little girl should have to watch her dad die.
And that's my story of what cancer took away from me
