I can't help but swim around, it feels like home in the water, I've known it all my life, for some reason thinking it was my enemy. Now I'm loving it, my beautiful tail, my beautiful hair flowing behind me. I can't wait to live my life.
Mother gets out of the water and parts it so that my tail disappears when the water leaves it, my hair is back to normal as well. She gestures for me to follow her (I assume) so I do.
She leads me to an ancient looking library, but it's still lovely. I study the beautiful library, a couch, two arm chairs, and of course; books! Then I begin to get curious...
"Mom, how come I've been missing and have just now returned after Sixteen years?" I ask trailing my fingers along the book bindings.
"The storm," Mother replies sadly, staring out the window at the sea. "Sixteen years ago, Orion and I decided to take a sailing trip," she continues. "I guess that was a terrible mistake, because I was nine months pregnant with you," she seems to be straining to remember.
"Oh, what happened?" I ask, still very curious.
"Well," she laughs,"You ended up deciding to come along on the trip, you were born on the ship and you were just beautiful," she gushes. "But then a terrible storm came, and the ship went under. Luckily everyone survived, but we soon realized you were lost." She sniffles,"We were heartbroken, but we sent you to California to our trusted friends to be taken care of until we could reach you again. See when you are Sixteen, your power is at its strongest," she explains.
Well that question is now answered, and wait a minute. Did she say powers?
"I'm sorry, powers?!?" I spit out.
"Yes," she replies simply.
"What kind of um, powers?" I say, still in complete shock.
"Any power you can think of," Mother replies, shrugging. She then disappears in a flash of orange, and in that same second she is back, but as my Best Friend.
Wait, what? I am officially confused.
"You may be confused, but you can do this too," Mother says.
"You look like Clarissa!" I exclaim, Clarissa has been my best friend for forever because my adoptive Mother and Clarissa's mother had been friends for a long time.
"Yes, I do," she says laughing. "Now I will change back to myself, watch," she says before disappearing once more. Sure enough she is back and herself again.
"Can I just go to my room?" I need to get away from reality, I know! Maybe I'll call Jason over to the palace, maybe the carriage will bring him over or something!
"I guess so," Mother shrugs,"Have fun dear!" I walk into the palace - my new home - and head to my room.
I have to admit, my new room is beautiful, my parents went all out to work on my room. Anyways, I'm going to text Jason and let him know everything that has been going on, I tell Jason EVERYTHING.
Babe? Can we talk?
Sure, Melissa, what about?
About the insane things that have been going on in my life.
Insane things? Name it, I'll help.
He's such a sweetie!
Well, apparently I'm royalty. I'm not in California anymore.
Aww, why not, baby?
Since I'm royalty, apparently I have to stay in the castle now.
I am coming right now, where are you?
Umm, hang on, maybe I can summon a coach to give you a ride here.
Alrighty ;)
Maybe, just maybe I can use my "powers" to get Jason here. I close my eyes and wonder what I have to do, so I just take my best guess. Bring Jason here! Okay, so maybe not the best guess ever, but who knows, it might work!
Anytime now... Any hour now... Any - yawn - ti... - yawn - blink, blink, blink. Black.
"Babe? Are you awake?" I am awakened by a soothing voice above me, I realize I am on the floor of my room. Oh no, I must have fallen asleep! How embarrassing!
"Sorry, Jason, I was waiting for-" wait, it worked? How? It was a terrible spell! "Jason, how did you get here?"
"Umm, I honestly don't know," he says. "I was just in my room looking at Instagram when all of a sudden my room turned blue and then poof, I was here. Oh my gosh, it worked. Wow! I can do magic!
"Umm wait here, I need to take a quick shower if that's okay with you?" I say, I really do need a shower. I smell like the ocean, which isn't bad, but I don't want to smell like the ocean.
"Do you want me to join you?" Jason asks trying to be cute. I can't help but roll my eyes.
"Maybe another time," I say winking.
"Alrighty, baby," Jason says, clearly not understanding I was joking.
Ahh, a shower feels so nice. I begin bursting out in my favorite song, it feels so nice to do something normal in a while. I shut my eyes and continue singing, I open them at the end of the song and see that Jason has officially joined me in my shower. He seems under a bit of a daze, I don't know though. It could be just my imagination.
"What are you doing in here, Jason?!?" I scream, covering myself best I can. He now looks mortified, and a bit confused.
"How the heck did I get in here?!?" He asks looking shocked himself.
"Don't play innocent with me, Jason," I say crossing my arms.
"I'm not! But you have a very sexy body," he winks.
"Get out!" I scream for the last time. This time he doesn't hesitate, he is out like a flash.
Men. Such perverts sometimes. Sure I love the guy, but I'm only sixteen! I'm not ready for sex or children! Yes, he is who I want to spend the rest of my life with, but again, not yet.
I step out of the shower, feeling much better. I quickly throw my clothes on and go to my room. I am greeted by Jason who tries to quickly apologize for walking in on my shower.
"Don't mention it," I say, still irritated.
"Thank you," Jason says, not understanding what I said.
"Ever. Don't mention this to anyone ever," I say clearing it up.
"Got it, your highness," Jason says attempting to be sarcastic.
"You know, you're right! I am a princess!" I say, waiting to see his hilarious expression.
"Oh right, sorry! I forgot," he says, blushing.
"It's alright," I say, actually meaning it.
It's now 3:00 P.M., I am in the library and my mother is as well.
"Mother, is it weird that I saw singing in the shower and all of a sudden my boyfriend looked a little dazed as he walked in on me in the shower?" I ask.
"Uh oh... I knew this would happen," Mother murmurs softly.
"Wha-what would happen?" I ask scared. Mother takes a deep breath, she seems worried.
"Melissa, you are a siren."
