Summary: Regina Mills is married to Leopold, Emma's grandfather. The two women had feelings for each other for a long time, however they couldn't act on it. It is during Emma's 18th birthday party that they finally do.

A beautiful blonde princess was in the kingdom garden smelling the flowers. Today was her eighteen birthday and for the occasion she wore a beautiful blue dress. Blue was her favourite color. "Emma, Regina and your grand father are coming, hurry up! Go change, this dress is dirty!" Emma ran to her room, excited. Her mother laughed. The princess was so excited and happy to see Regina, her young step grandmother. Regina is thirty two years old and she married her grand father, Leopold, before Emma's birth. She didn't really thought of Regina as her grandmother but more as a friend, maybe more than a friend.

She put on a gorgeous white dress, fixed her hair in a bun and did a light make up, she never loved to wear too much make up. Her maids helping her all the way. Finally she was ready. She went to the ball room. When she entered, the room was full of people. Everyone stopped what they were doing and bowed before Emma. As she was passing through the crowed, they wished her a happy birthday. She thanked them but her goal was to reach the royal table, knowing Regina would be there. "Ginaa!" Emma yelled and ran to Regina.

Regina, who had her back to Emma, turned around. They both smiled widely. Emma hugged Regina tightly and the brunette did the same then Regina pulled away. "Happy birthday princess!" "Thank you Gina! I missed you so much!" Said the princess, obviously happy. "I missed you too sweetheart!" She gave her a kiss on the cheek and the blonde blushed. "I'm so happy you are here..." Said Emma, shyly. "Me too princess...You don't know how happy I am... " Whispered the queen. They lost themselves in each other's eyes before they get interrupted by someone. "Why isn't the most beautiful princess in my arms yet?" Asked a male voice behind Emma. She turned around. "Grand pa!" She gave him a hug. "Happy birthday Emma!" Said Leopold with a smile. "Thank you grand pa!"

While Emma and Ruby, her servant and friend, were talking, Regina came to them. "Would you grant me a dance princess?" Regina asked, extending her hand. Emma gave her a smile and took her hand. They went onto the dance floor where almost everyone was already. "You are wonderful my princess..." Said softly Regina. "Thank you but not as beautiful as you my queen." Said Emma, smiling. They kept dancing, looking in each other eyes as if it was just the two of them.

When the music stopped playing they went to their seats. Emma saw Ruby dancing with a guy. She then turned to face Regina and gave her a smile. "Do you enjoy your party?" Asked Regina and returned her her smile."Yeah, it's very cool!" "Why don't you dance with a prince insteed of talking with me?" Asked the queen, a loving smile on her lips. "Because I don't like them and because I love to talk with you." Regina's smile widened. "I love to talk with you too."

After a moment of silence where both of them looked at the people dancing, Emma opened her mouth. "Hum... Regina?" Emma hesited. "Yes dear?" Regina gave her an encouraging smile. "Do you love my grand pa? I mean he's old and you are young but" Regina cut her off. "I like him but I don't love him. I didn't want to marry him..." Regina took a breath. "If you don't feel good talking of that I don't mind" "No, you need to know that. When I was younger I saved your mother from a horse, she didn't know how to stop him so I jumped on Rocinante and saved her. I didn't know who she was before your grand pa came the next day. He said that she was his daughter and then asked me to become his wife because I saved her and not a woman until then cared for her like I did. I didn't have the time to say no that my mother said yes. And then you know the rest..." Finished Regina. "If you don't love him why are you still with him?" Asked a confused Emma. "Because I can't and if I'd breake up with him I wouldn't see you anymore." She gave her a small smile. "Of couse you would still see me! Gina.. I don't understand" she sighed "why can't you break up with him?" Asked Emma "I don't know if I could tell you, you are young..." "I'm 18 Gina." Emma gave her a glare and Regina laughed. "I'll tell to you tonight. I will come to your room, okay?" "Okay" She smiled widely. "Would you like to dance with me again my queen?" She asked her. "Always." And then they went onto the dance floor.
