Once soon a time, like every fairy tale, there was a girl and her prince. But this was no ordinary encounter. We both lived in a small town, in a very poor area on the west coast of England. Living in small town such as ours meant that everyone knew everyone and everything that happens. And everyone married quite young, most marry right after graduating, my parents and older sisters were the same.
Everyone who has ever lived here has been to the same schools, but very few have ever been able to leave town and go somewhere else in the country to pursue a further education. So after high school, each generation would take after their parents. But there was me, and it was going to prove to be a problem as I was the youngest of four daughters of my father, who was a local fisherman.
My three older sisters were able to marry and had their spouses do the actual fishing, while they traded in other skills they had like knitting and such. Sadly, I still had to find my own trade as I was not seen fit for fishing. I searched and tried almost everything my small town could offer. I couldn't knit as my hands weren't deemed to be delicate like my sisters. I honestly don't see a difference.
I needed to clear my head and think about what I wanted to do to help my family, so I went on a walk. I didn't realize where I walked to until I saw the beach. I recognized the beach as it was the very one my father and brother-in-laws like to go fishing. I giggled to myself at the the thought of my younger self complaining of the mile-long walk. I was surprised that I managed to walk without really comprehending it. I walked toward the small hill, just overlooking the beach and sat down in the warmed grass to watch the sun slowly start to set.
That was when I saw him. The angel sent directly from heaven and placed in front of me. He was just so beautiful to look at. His beautiful light brown hair, curling slightly at the nape of his neck, was dancing across his forehead that glistened in the setting sun. He just took my breath away.
