"Kris? Helloo?" Adam smiles as he waves his hand in front of my face. I open one eye and realise I am still in the middle of class.

"Adam! Why didn't you wake me up?!" I hiss.

"Sorry, you looked tired," he says and continues solving his math problems. I peer at the clock on the wall, only 5 more minutes until summer break.

"Hey, do you want to come back to my place after school?" I ask Adam.

"Sure," he grins.

I slung my arm around Adams shoulder as we skip down the school corridor. Adam and I have been best friends since we were little, we hang out nearly everyday.

"Mums out the front waiting, race you to the car!" I smile and run through the double doors that lead to the car park.

"Hey, no fair, you got a head start," Adam whines. I nudge him and throw my bag into the car.

"Hey Adam, had a good day at school?" My mum asks as he gets into the car.

"Nah, it was ordinary," he shrugs. Adams never really been polite, but we've all gotten used to that. It's one of the reasons he doesn't have many friends, in fact, I'm his only friend.

"Oh.. How bout you Kris?" Mum asks with a smile.

"It was soo boring! We had to sit through a three hour lecture," I moan. Mum sighs as she pulls into the driveway. Adam and I jump out of the car and run to my room.

"I hope you brought your swimmers with you," I wink as I search through my drawers.

"No, maybe I'll have to borrow some of yours?" He jokes. I punch his arm lightly. Even though Adams gay, I've never really felt any different around him. It doesn't bother me at all really.

"Oh shut up and get changed already," I teased and walked into the bathroom to get myself dressed.

"Is that a new bikini?" Adam asked as we walked down to the pool.

"Yeah, do you like it?" I smiled.

"It's pretty," he answered. Adam splashed his feet in the water, I sat down next to him.

"So, have you found yourself anyone yet?" I asked. His eyes widened at the question he was not expecting.

"What do you mean?" He stuttered.

"Oh come on, Ad, you know what I'm talking about! Like, a boyfriend!" I giggled. He looked down at the water, his face saddened.

"Adam..?" I said quietly and slung my arm around his shoulder.

"No, like usual," he muttered.

"Adam, you're a lovely guy! You'll find someone, I promise," I grinned. Adams face lit up and he started splashing his feet in the water again.

"I love you, Kris," he smiled.

"W- what?" I stuttered, confused at his sudden confession.

"No no no, you're my best friend!" He stammered. I couldn't stop myself from laughing.

"You are so awkward, Ad! You had me scared to death!" I giggled. Adam blushed and nudged my arm. "I'm going to grab a drink, want one?" I asked as I stood up.

"Yes," he answered. I walked into the kitchen where I saw the Hoods seated around the table. I can not STAND the Hoods. I really like Mali, she's the daughter, around the same age as me. Her mum is a bit annoying, her dad's OK... but their son, Calum. Don't get me started. We've hated each other since we were young.

"Kristen, the Hoods are here for dinner, I hope you don't mind," mum smiled and got up from the table.

"Oh, not at all," I said sarcastically and grabbed our drinks from the fridge.

"Go get Adam and we can all sit and talk together," mum said cheerfully.

"Ah, we were actually about to go swimming but-"

"Great! Calum can go with you," Mrs Hood grinned. Oh lord. I rolled my eyes and lead Calum out to the pool.

"Look, you don't have to be nice to me, but can you please make an effort to be nice to Adam?" I sighed as Calum followed me down to the pool.

"Oh, him. I hear he's a bit nerdy," Calum laughed.

"Yeah, maybe he is ok? But if you've got a problem with that you can go back inside and leave us alone!" I yelled.

"Ok grumpy shits," he muttered under his breath.

"In fact, why don't you just go home? I don't appreciate your rude behaviour around here," I said.

"I'm sorry? All I said was 'I hear he's a bit nerdy', is that so bad? Really?" Calum sighed.

"I'm just looking out for him, he's extremely sensitive," I explained.

"Mm, maybe if you stopped hanging out with him you'd get more friends," Calum smirked.

"Ha ha, how funny. Of course you have to bring up your popularity don't you," I said sarcastically. Calum didn't say anything but instead stopped and stared at me before Adam interrupted.

"Hi Calum.." Adam said shyly.

"Oh, hi.." Calum stuttered.
