February 7th: Josh
“WAKE UP JOSH!!! IT”S TIME FOR BREAKFAST!!!!”
“WHAAA!!!” I screamed and jumped from my bed. I looked up and say my little brother’s round face staring at me. “Charlie…don’t scream in my face. That was really loud.”
“Ok. I’m sorry. It’s still time for breakfast though. We are having pancakes! WHOO HOO!!!” Charlie ran down the stairs waving his hands above his head. I chuckled and ran after him. When I got to the bottom step I could smell the banana pancakes like they were on a plate right in front of me. I walked into the kitchen and saw my mother finishing up today’s breakfast.
“Hi honey,” She said. “I have sausage and bacon. Which would you like?”
“Hummm…I want…bacon.” She handed me a plate with 2 banana pancakes and a few strips of bacon on it. I took my food and sat down at our hard wood dining room table. My brother was demolishing his pancakes and making them into towers. Mary, my baby sister, was eating little bits of pancake and sausage.
“Grr Blabladoo na see?” She said (or at least tried to say) as she pointed to her food. I smiled back.
“Yes good pancakes right?” I replied nodding my head. She nodded along with me. I chuckled and quickly ate my pancakes. I ran back upstairs when I was finished and speedily got dressed in an old Nike sweatshirt, that mom bought for me a long time ago, and some basketball shorts. I swiftly brushed my teeth and combed my hair. My mom handed me my lunch and backpack as I started to dash out the door but she stopped me.
“Why are you so eager to leave? Is there something I need to know?” She asked. Oh no. She was onto me.
“Umm…uhh…no reason. Just, uh, excited for, uh, science. We are doing this awesome lab. It’s gonna be fun and I’m going to be late so bye!” I ran past her. I looked back and saw her standing there with a puzzled look on her face. Ugh. I hate lying to my mom. But if I told her why then I would be grounded for life. I slowed my run to a walk as a started up to the stairs to my school. I glanced at the big sign that said Truman High School. ‘Hopefully no one I know is here,’ I thought to myself. ‘That would be embarrassing.’ I walked down a hallway and saw Mr. Simmons, my German teacher.
“Hey! Mr. Simmons! Do you happen to know where room 107 is?”
“It is down this hallway to the left.” He replied.
“Ok. Thanks!” I walked slowly down the hallway and looked to the left. On the door there was a sign that said:
Please Come Here For Peer Tutoring…
I put my hand on the door knob. I took a deep breath. ‘No one knows you’re here. You don’t know any of these people. I need to do this for my grades.’ I thought to myself. I started to slowly turn the knob.
