Step 13
I wouldn't be surprised if my jaw fell on the floor...literally. My eyes were widened in shock and I swore that I felt the hair on the back my neck stood up. I looked behind me and noticed that my crew was taken off guard like I was.
"D-Don't tell me that..." Mike stuttered. "...you're Lucy?" he directed his question to the only female member of their crew. I stared at the girl as she removed her cap and face mask. I didn't know of what to feel right now.
Why the hell were Lawrence and Lucy here?
"Don't forget me," the other guy from their crew also removed his cap and face mask and the person was revealed to be Marius Stan, Lawrence's best bud and my partner back then.
"This is getting weird..." Carter's voice trailed off.
Lawrence sighed as he removed his cap in defeat since he knew that they were already found out. "You're such a pain in the ass," he told me. "We planned to keep this a secret, you know?"
"Why are you here?" Kenneth asked.
"I invited them," the last member of their crew removed his cap and face mask. He was unfamiliar to us. It was the first time that I'd seen him but the way he looked reminded me of the Luther siblings. He shared the same brown hair and green eyes that the siblings possessed except that his hair was tied into a low ponytail. "My name's Samuel and I invited my cousins, Lawrence and Lucy, to join me here. Marius just decided to tag along,"
"But you're rich!" Janine pointed out. "Why do you need to join the underground dance battle?"
Now that Janine mentioned it, the reason why they let us take the prize money was obvious. The Good Bastards members' were rich. The two thousand cash prize was just nothing to them. If I could state something more obvious, the two thousand cash prize was just a penny for them.
"I told you that I invited them, right?" Samuel sighed. Believing what he told us that he was their cousin was that easy since there was a resemblance in their physical features. The brown hair and green eyes were just that hard to not notice.
But Lawrence looked more mature looking than Samuel. Samuel also got this mole on his right cheek. Lawrence's jawline was more defined than his and I knew that I didn't need to point that out.
"What's the purpose?" it was Cindy's turn to ask.
"I'm considered as the blacksheep of the Luther family," Samuel explained. "But I know that my cousins wouldn't abandon what I desired. It was my lifelong dream to join an underground dance battle,"
"Lifelong dream?" I managed to keep a straight face on. "Really?"
"But since our family has a name to maintain, his parents told him to show complete decorum because our family is disgusted in battles such as this," Lucy further explained. "They say that street dancing is stupid,"
"So..." Carter wondered, "You're saying that it's forbidden for you to join dance battles like this one that you participated at?"
"That's right," Lawrence nodded. "If our family knew, they would disown us,"
"What?!" I raised my voice. "They would disown you just because of this?"
"We live a different life from you," Lawrence said.
"Thanks for pointing that out," I spoke out of pure sarcasm.
"He's not saying that in a bad way, kitten," Marius beamed me a smile. Who gave him the permission to call me an animal? "He's just saying that people like us can't be free. We can't do anything without being judged,"
"I'm sorry for not telling you sooner, Aria," Lucy looked down on the ground. "I know that I can trust you but I just don't want to risk it,"
"It's fine," I sighed. "There's nothing that we can do about it now, right?"
"How long do you plan on doing this?" Mike asked Lucy.
"I don't know..." Lucy's voice trailed off. She looked at his brother for the answer whilst Lawrence looked at Samuel.
"I honestly don't know," Samuel shrugged. "But I enjoyed it. Did you guys enjoy it?" he asked his crew. Even though Samuel was the one who put the group together, Lawrence looked like he was the crew leader.
"In all honesty," Marius's un-wrapped a gum that he took from his pocket and placed it inside his mouth. The signatured gum of Marius Stan. "I did enjoy it,"
"I did too," Lucy added.
"I got to admit," Lawrenced sighed. This night was full of sighing. "This was enjoyable,"
Wow.
I never thought that Lawrence would admit that street dancing was enjoyable.
I could remember how he told me that I was just a messed-up street dan—Wait. He also acknowledged my dancing skills and told me that I was the real winner back then.
What did Lawrence really think of street dancing?
"The next underground dance battle is a big one," Kenneth informed. "It's so big that people all over the country would join because of the cash prize,"
"If you're joining...that means that we'll have to train more," I told the Good Bastards.
"We need to win, Aria," Carter whispered to me. "That dance battle will have strong opponents...much stronger than what we're used to,"
"I have an idea," Samuel spoke up and everybody turned to look at him. "Why don't we merge both of our crews to create a new one?"
