Chapter 1 - Troian
"Romeo and Juliet loved each other so dearly they were willing to die for each other so they could be happy. It wasnt out of pity for their either of their families."
"Thank you miss Mulwin on your opinion that I would strongly agree with as well."
I smiled at Mr. Derosa's answer to my argument. I was always one to participate in Literature and just about the only one. We are studying my favorite Shakespeare play Romeo and Juliet. I have read this book more than 50 times at least. I just loved the betrayal, excitement and love expressed in Shakespeares work.
I was startled when the bell rang as everyone quickly stood up and shuffled out of the classroom. I was usually the last one out of class anyway. I slipped my books into my pink sparkly bag and trotted over to Mr. Derosa's desk.
"I like your input today in class miss Mulwin," he said.
"Thanks Mr. D. Heres my extra credit essay for Wuthering Heights."
"I can always count on you Mulwin. Would you like another assignment?"
"Of course!"
I was always looking for more credit in each of my classes. I believe that hard work and lots of effort can go a long way. I've been taught this since i was 2 years old and was in a 4-5 year old ballet class. This is why I'm taking all necessary classes for a major in theatre arts. I want more than anything to be a star on Broadway.
"How about Pride and Prejudice?"
"That sounds splendid Mr. D! Thanks!"
"Anytime Miss Mulwin. Keep the hard work up!"
I shuffle out of the classroom as relief washes over me. Literature was my last class of the day. I decide to drive to Starbucks to start my essay on Pride and Prejudice. I slip into my blue Buick LaCrosse and slide the keys into the ignition. I pull my phone out of my bag and check my messages. Much to my surprise I have 3 texts from Michael my bestfriend.
"Hey bitch. Wanna meet up after classes? -Your Slut"
I laugh at his signiture.
"Sure. Where? -Your bitch"
Not even a minute later I hear my text tone.
"The Grill? xoxo"
I was craving an iced caramel macchiato but I guess a diet pepsi will have to do.
"Alright be there in 5."
I pull off of the NYU campus and onto the streets of the Big Apple. Its about a 5 minute drive from campus to the Grill. I enter and the smell of greasy french fries reaches my nose. I spot Michael and smile at him. He stands up and greets me with his usual kisses on each cheek.
"Hey betch," he says as he greets me.
"Hey," I say as I laugh at the name he calls me.
A waitress with short red hair approaches our table and asks us for our drink order.
"I'll have a diet pepsi."
"Girl what are you doing? Get a real woman's drink," Michael says. He is always trying to get some alcohol into my system. He says I need to relax from university when I hang out with him.
"She'll have a strawberry daiquiri and I'll have an original cosmopolitan," he continues. I glare at him.
"I dont want a drink at 2:30 in the afternoon Michael."
"Oh come on Troian! You need to relax and anyways its Friday."
I sigh and think about my 6 page essay I have to write for Music Theory.
