Run-Down Establishment

It's so lonely here in my box,
All my heavy fears fall like rocks
Especially when its spacious and dim.
In a failed attempt to save face
I disregarded the human race
And sat alone in a crowded group
And I was so low, not much lower could I stoop.

I was a ghost, an empty word, one that many many people have heard.
They blew me off, I'm just a bird

But you treat me like
A run-down Establishment
You fix me up and you throw me out of my own ruins.
And I always think of when
I was drowning in the ocean
You waited for that storm to pass
And you built me up again
Brick by brick
Someday I'll stay
An open Establishment

I bet that nobody will say
'I appreciate the things that you've done'
Nobody except for one.
But just know that everyday, despite all the words that they say you'll always have a home that loves you when the work's done.

And when I'm lost, I know I can be found, because I know that I'll see you around.

I'm not a ghost, an empty word, I am a song that many people have heard. And you show me
I'm not a bird, and how I thought of myself was absurd.

Because you treat me like
A run-down Establishment
You fix me up and you throw me out of my ruins.
And I always think of when
I was drowning in the ocean
You waited for that storm to pass
And you built me up again
Brick by brick
Someday I'll stay
A working Establishment

And I know you will be gone down the road, and I'll have made this empty room a full home.

It's so lonely here in my box,
All my heavy fears fall like rocks
Especially when its spacious and dim.
In a failed attempt to save face
I disregarded the human race
And sat alone in a crowded group
And I was so low, so low. not much lower could I stoop.

That was until you repainted my rooms
