It's started dark, black, and then slowly I began to see color and hear the heart beating music. The sound of a slow piano playing a lullaby with the beat of a drum. My name is Brandon, I'm sixteen, I have dark brown hair, blue eyes, and yes I am a girl.
"Brandon?" I find myself lying on the ground laying on my left side of my body. Someone is shaking my shoulder. Someone who I haven't seen in years and I never thought I would see him ever again. He left a long time ago and that was the whole reason we broke up. There he was, Shane. With his brown eyes, his little wavy dark brown hair, lights brown skin, and his sensitive smile. He is there on his knees holding out a hand. We had dated in middle school and he had to move away because his parents. I wasn't going to see him again. Or at least I thought. We talked and texted, but one day he told me this would never work and told me to never speak to him again. Why would he be here now? Now that I'm in high school and that I haven't seen him in about 3 years.
"What are you doing here?" I look around and I see we're in the school hallway that leads to the two school gyms by the high school. At culver high school. The music I heard was coming from the gym and I look through the small window on the door and it's dark outside. I see people around us, but they continue they walk by.
"Are you okay?" He asks
"Yeah, in ok, but what are you doing here?" Though I don't know what I'm even doing here.
"I'm back. I'm staying."
"How? You told me never to speak to you again and just to leave you alone and now you just show up and think everything's okay?" He looks at me with a soft face like he never did anything wrong.
"I know and I'm sorry for that, but I wanted to come back to you." I already know that's a lie.
"Don't lie to me, Shane. The only you're here is just to see Adrianna. Don't even try to deny it." He looks at me like it's a bullet to the arm (not even the heart). I get myself up and he stands up. He looks at me while I look around. Adrianna is the other girl he dated in middle school. The first time we broke up he went out with her, but she dumped him for someone else. Then we dated again. I know that Adrianna has more control over him even though she really didn't care about him. He loved her and I could never compare to her. She also was one of my closest friends which meant I couldn't really hate her, but I was still envious for her place in Shane's life. Was... Adrianna left a couple months ago because she was being chased by her dad and she didn't want to live with him, so she decided to just disappear. I haven't seen her since then.
   "That's not true!" He pronounced.
"Yes it is, because I already know you love her and that she means more to you then I ever did. I had discovered that after she broke up with you. You did things with her that you'd never do with me even after she left you and we dated again. You only chose to date me again because she didn't want you and you didn't want to be alone!" I shouted.
"Shut up!" He demanded. I knew I'd gone to far.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have gone that far." I grab my arm and look down. I turned around and started walking away, down the hall. I can leave through the back door. It's a bad idea that I'm here. Someone grabs my arm and turns me around. It's Shane. He wraps his arms around me and hugs me tightly.
"I'm sorry I yelled. I just... Yes it's true I loved her, but she wouldn't love me. The reason I did those things was to see if she really loved me and when she didn't I knew you still did even after everything that happened between us. I love you, Brandon. That's why I came back." I hug him not as tight as he was, but enough to let him know I care and understand. Sort of. I know when Shane is lying and that wasn't a lie. We let go of each other and I look around again.
"What are we doing here?" His face changes as if I didn't know anything.
"Remember, it's the spring concert  your performing." It didn't sound like he was lying. It did sound like a concert, but how did I end up on the ground?
"How'd I end up on the ground?"
"You were walking and before I could get to you, you were hit and pushed my a little kid running around and you hit your head on the floor and passed out." Oh well that explains why my head hurts or is it because of all the lie he told me. I laugh a little, but then why didn't people stop and help me? How was he the only one who noticed. This isn't normal. Something's going on. I turn around and start running. To the back door. I move through people and push them. Shane is following me. Keeping up with me. I reach the door and push on the handle. It doesn't open, it's locked from the outside. I stop hearing music. It's dead silent. No sound, no music, no voices, no nothing. I turn around and Shane is just standing there, but there's no one else in the building. Everyone else is gone. "I was only trying to protect you. To make this a little bit easier in you. I came here to see you and to tell you what happened, but you wouldn't listen." What is going on. This doesn't sound like the boy I once believed I loved.
"What the hell is happening? What's going on? You show up out of nowhere and then everyone is acting weird and then disappears. And why can't I remember anything?" Shane walks forward and grabs my hand in his.
"Brandon..."

"You're dead."
