The House Of Salami

A living room, poorly furnished.
[Salami, a man in his fifties,drinks palm wine from a calabash.The gourd from which he repeatedly pours the Palm wine rests on the floor near the base of the sofa on which he relaxes himself.]

Salami[sings while drinking]:
Today,I will live life to the fullest.
Since I know not what tomorrow holds.
Today,I will live life to the fullest.
Since I know not what tomorrow holds.

(Enter Bisi from an inner quarter(backstage) as salami begin's to drink again)

Bisi:salami

{Salami continues to drink and does not answer}

Bisi:salami

(Salami gulps on.)

Bisi:salami!

Salami (finishes the drink in his calabash and answers irritably)What!

Bisi:How many times must I ask you for food money before you give it to me?What?Aren't you ashamed of yourself?

Salami:(laughs) Ashamed? Am I Central Bank? Leave me alone I beg you.I have no money.

Bisi:You have no money.But you always have enough to drink to your useless palm wine and--
