I sat across from James. It was an awkward staring contest until I realized I would have to start the conversation.

"I have a boyfriend." I said.

"I know." He smiled. "I'm just glad we're hanging out. Alone."

"I like Daniel a lot."

"I know."

I sighed. I couldn't give up this easily. I would have to break through his barriers before my fist got a mind of it's own.

"What is your major?"

"My family wants me to go into business."

"Well, do you want to go into business?"

"Nah."

I was getting a little annoyed that he wasn't being open, so I laid it all on the table.

"James, give me longer answers, or I'll kick you out."

He visibly sighed and went on, "I want to go into engineering. I know I act stupidly, but I just love it and I know I can handle it."

"That's amazing. I wish I knew what I want. I am taking biochemistry, but I don't know what to do yet. Maybe I'll be a doctor."

He smiled and replied, "You are great with people. I can see that happening."

We lounged back on the beds and took a break. I was glad he was finally opening up to me. I wish I knew more about Daniel.

OH CRAP! I was supposed to text him earlier that I got home okay. I quickly pull out my phone and type:

"Hey! Sorry, I ended up going out with some friends. - Alex"

A few minutes later he responded:

"I was just about to call you. Can't wait until I see your pretty face again, but I have to go study. - Daniel"

I was glad he was thinking about me. I decided to get back to James because he seemed to be daydreaming. He was laying on Care's bed and smiling at the ceiling.

"James?"

"Yeah?" he said after a minute.

"Are you going to change your major?"

"Maybe. I could always own properties and make lots of mon-ay!"

We both laughed as he did that crazy expression with his hands where you slide money out your palm as if you were standing by a stripper. I threw my pillow at him, and he caught at as if it was air. When we calmed down I heard the door open, but I was too tired to get up and see who it was.

"Dri? It's Care. Are you up?"

She undimmed the lights before she walked around the corner. I was happy that dimmed because our school was very energy friendly.

"Alexandria, is there a boy in here with you?" I could tell she thought she was about to catch me like I was in high school making out with a boy in my room. She walked around the corner a few seconds later.

"What time is it? I should probably go back to my room to study." James said.

"Agh, it's just James?" she looked at me as if she were disappointed.

He huffed at her, but smiled at me and waved goodnight. I was glad I could finally go to bed, but Care seemed to have other plans. There was about to be some crazy boy talk.

"Dri, I thought you were dating Daniel?" she looked at me accusingly.

"I am. I was just talking to James since he gave me a ride home. Only seemed fair." I explained.

I thought their would be prying, but she seemed a little tired. Maybe very tired. I turned and saw her literally collapse on her bed and start snoring. That girl knew how to party hard, and sleep like there was no tomorrow.

As I lay awake I can't help but compare James and Daniel. Daniel is super cute, smart, loyal, friendly, and isn't a jerk. James is mysterious, deep, hot, and there is more to him than what he lets on.

I can see a future with Daniel. A cozy house, adorable kids, and a loving atmosphere. Thinking about a future with James is liking trying to guess that exact time with seconds that you will fall asleep. Not that its impossible, it's just never what you expect.

I will go see Daniel tomorrow, and it will be great. I can get to know more about him and we can grab food.

I wake up sometime around 10 a.m.. I must have fallen asleep after thinking about food because I was starving. Care was gone, probably off to classes. Or maybe with that guy of hers. I would have to ask her later.

I take a walk around campus. I haven't really taken in it's beauty yet. There are so many trees and people are always in a great mood. This is what I wanted college to be like. The dreamy version of real life.

I end up at a little food cart that sells pretzels. I texted Daniel to come meet me there if he wasn't busy. He answered back almost instantly that he would be there in 10 minutes. I was so happy that he wasn't one of those people to leave you on "read".

I saw him before he saw me, so I waved my hand for him to come sit on the bench with me.

"Hey, cutie." I said as I gave him half my pretzel.

"Hey. Someone's in a good mood."

"Yeah! I want to get to know about you today"

"Well, what do you want to know?"

"Favorite color, food, and animal."

"Hmm. Dark blue, lasagna, and probably a panda." he laughed when he saw me hold back my laughter.

"A panda? That is... interesting."

"Well what are your favorites?" he said as I gave him a friendly shrug.

"Green, pizza, and bunnies. Yes, I know. Bunnies are really interesting, but their furry, little faces make me want to keep them all."

"My little sister owns a bunny. Maybe next dinner you can come and see him."

I smiled and snuggled a little closer to him. I'm glad that we started out with the easy stuff because I knew if I started to pry into his past, he would want to see what was in mine, and that could not happen. I couldn't lie to him. He was too sweet.
