I'm Akari, a sixteen year old girl who lives a pretty average life like any other teenager. And obviously, high school was my worst enemy, the place where wearing the latest lipstick was more important than getting good grades. But I didn't go to just any ordinary high school, I went to a place where the so called " misbehaving" teens went. I wasn't exactly a bad kid, I just didn't play by the rules. So my parents, one day, sent me here to correct my old ways. You may be wondering, is that working out?
Nope, it's shit! It's living hell here, so there hasn't been much improvement since I arrived. I shoved my books into my locker, sending a few loose papers scattering across the dirty hallway. I sighed, leaving the papers be, and walked off to class, a glum expression crossing my face.
" Akari, you're quite early for once!" Mrs Anderson said happily, her perky high pitched voice making my ear drums bleed.
" Good morning Mrs Anderson..."
Lucas, my best friend, sat down next to me, his thick black glasses resting lazily on his nose.
" Sup Akari." He grinned, his mischievous grey eyes twinkling.
" Hi Lucas."
Now Lucas wasn't exactly a bad kid, he'd just down a few crimes in the past. By that I mean major crimes, that he should be in jail for. But we're not going to discuss the right now...
Slowly, I reached inside my bag for a pencil, but when I looked up, two green eyes were looking back at me.
The green eyes belonged to a tall slender boy, with silver hair and a blank expression.
" If you're looking for a place to hide your knife, I know a few spots if that's what you're looking for." I grinned.
He didn't even blink, much less a smirk, as he continued to stare.
" I'm Rain, I'm new."
" Okay... Akari, it's nice to meet you, I guess." I said awkwardly.
Well he's certainly a keeper.
He nodded his head, and sat in a desk towards the back of the room, dark luminous shadows covering his face.
He's certainly gonna be one to avoid.
" Hey Akari, who's that weird kid towards the back of the room?"
I shrugged, turning to face Lucas.
" His name's Rain, but he wouldn't say anything else. Seems kinda odd if you ask me." I muttered.
Lucas furrowed his eyebrows and returned his gaze back to the front of the room.
" Okay class, we have a new student. Rain, can you please stand up and introduce yourself."
I watched him slowly leave the seat, his nails digging into his palm.
" I'm Rain, and I transferred here from my last school."
" Do you have any hobbies?"
" I enjoy drawing, but I also enjoy doing magic." He added.
Mrs Anderson smiled.
" Why don't you show us some of the stuff you can do Rain."
Rain left his seat and head towards the front of the room, his piercing green eyes meeting mine as he walked.
I watched as he pulled out a deck of pure black cards, and spilt them into two piles, his eyes never leaving my gaze. It was creepy. He showed us he had the two piles in his hands, and then we watched as they disappeared into thin air. They appeared at a few students desks, as they stared in awe. But he wasn't done yet. He curled his finger inward, and the cards shot into his hand, in a perfect pile.
The class exploded in applause, everyone was clapping and yelling.
" Well wasn't the just amazing! Thank you Rain, you may return to your seat dear."
Everyone was cheering except me.
The magic trick he did was more than just illusion.
He was using dark magic.
