A boy named Matt was given a nintendo 64 with a cartage it was you typical gray color but someone wrote the words "Majora" on it in Black permanent marker. The old man he bought it from said that it used to belong to a boy about his age who didn't live there anymore and thats where the story begins......
When leaving the old man wished me well saying "Goodbye then" at least that is what it sounded like. All the way in the car-ride home Matt had a nagging doubt that the old man said something else. My fears were confirmed when i booted up the game, To Matts surprise it worked just fine but there was one save file simply named "BEN"....."Goodbye Ben" the old man was saying "Goodbye Ben". Matt felt bad for the old man, Obviously the grandparent.
Out of curiosity Matt looked at the save file eyeballing it, Matt could tell he was pretty far in the game- He had almost complete the game- He also had 3/4 of the bosses remaining. Matt also saw that "Ben" had a owl statue next to his profile, He was on Day 3 and by the stone tower temple with hardly an hour before the moon crashed. Matt then made a save file named "Link" out of tradition and started the game, Ready to relive his childhood, For such a shady looking cartage Matt was impressed at how smoothly it ran. However the only thing that was a little unnerving was that at times the NPC's would call him "Link" and other times they would call him "BEN". Matt figured it was just a bug, a fluke in programing making the files to mix up.
After a while i got creeped out and deleted the "BEN" profile hoping that would solve the problem. It did and it didn't because now the NPC's didn't call him anything where his name was supposed to be in the text there was just a blank space, Matts save file was still called "Link" though. Frustrated with homework to do Matt put the game down for a day. Matt started playing the game again the next night, getting the Lens Of Truth and working his way towards completing the Snowhead Temple. Now he tried the 4th day glitch but when he did the timer at the bottom just disappeared, However when he pressed B to exit the telescope instead of being greeted by the astronomer he found himself in the Majora boss fight room at the end of the game staring at the Skull Kid hovering above him. There was no boss sound, just him floating in the air above meand the background music was regular for the area but still creepy.
Immediately his palm began to sweat, This was definitely NOT normal. Skull Kid never appeared here, he tried moving around the area and no matter what where i went Skull Kid would always be facing me not saying anything. Nothing would happen though this kept around for sixty seconds. Matt thought the game had bugged or something but he began to highly doubt that very much. Matt was about to reach for the reset button when a text appeared on his screen "You're not sure why, But you apparently had a reservation...." He instantly recognized the text, You get the message when you get the room key at the Sock Pocket Inn. He started navigating the room again testing to see if that was some sort of trigger that enabled him to interact with something here. Then he realized how stupid he was to even think that someone could reprogram the game like this was absurd. Sure enough fifteen seconds later another message appeared on the screen and again it was a pre-existing phrase. "Go to the lair of the Temples boss? Yes/No" Matt paused for a second trying to figure out what to do, When he realized he couldn't select No he took a deep breath and pressed Yes.
The screen then faded to white with the words "Dawn of a new day" and some vertical lines underneath it. Where he was ported to filled him with the most intense sense of dread and impending fear. The only way he could describe the way he felt here is having this feeling of inexplicable depression on a profound scale. He is normally not a depressed person but the way i felt here was a feeling that he didn't even know existed. It was such a twisted, powerful presence that seemed to wash over Matt. He appeared in some kind of weird twilight zone version of clock town, He walked out of the of the clock tower only to find hat everyone was gone, Usually with the 4th day glitch you can still find the guards and the dog that run outside the tower. What replaced them was the ominous feeling that there was something out there, in the same area as him and that it was watching him. He had four hearts to his name and that the Hero's Bow, but at this point he wasn't even considered for his avatar. He felt that he personally in some sort of danger, Perhaps the most chilling thing was the music.....It was the song of healing but played in reverse, The music got louder building up so as if you should expect something to pop out at you but nothing ever did.
