The rain was pouring around them as he held her in his arms. Her last few breaths were escaping her quickly. She reached up touching his face and tried to speak but could only mouth the words she wanted to tell him. He read her lips as she mouthed, "You made it.". "I'm here," he said quickly in response. She smiled and quickly went limp. He sat there with her now in his lap so mad at himself for not showing sooner and for not being the one who could save her. He pulled the knife out of her chest and being so mad at himself he took the knife and cut her name into his arm. Then he threw the knife to the side as he took her shirt and wrapped it around his arm to stop the bleeding while wrapping her in his leather jacket. He slowly picked her up and walked away as rain surrounded him soaking him, he wanted to do everything he could to keep her as dry as possible. He didn't know where he was going but he had faith in his feet and let them guide him towards the direction he was destined to venture towards. His eyes fell weary but his legs continued almost as if he was sleepwalking. When he reopened his eyes he found himself in the backyard of his uncles house in the tree house he built last summer.
John looked around suddenly realizing it was all a dream. He wipes the sweat from his brows and gets up noticing he has 3 missed calls from his mom. It was a hot summer day that day and he had fallen asleep under the only window in the tree house. He called his mom back only to be sent to voice mail and he left a message saying "You're it.". Leaving the treehouse he walked into his uncle's house and found him sleeping on the couch while the news played on the television. "Hey, uncle Bob I'm hungry what do you have to eat?" He heard his uncle grumble when he noticed the 5 empty bottles of beer. "Ugh drunk again? Didn't Aunty Barbra tell you to not drink any more alcohol?" John says as he picks up the beer bottles and throws them away. Noticing his uncle slowly starting to wake up he asks again what there is to eat only to hear in response his uncle say "I'm sorry John.". Not knowing what he was sorry for he replies "It's not a big problem if there isn't any food in the house I'll just hit up some friends and eat some Mc Donald's.". John says as he gathers his coat and leaves driving his car to the nearest Mc Donald's and hits up a few friends. He misses another call from his mom but this time she leaves a voice mail, he doesn't check it at the moment but instead enjoys his Mc Chicken and fries. Moments later he feels his phone vibrating and when he checks it he notices that it's his uncle calling him. Still hanging with friends he just ignores the call and goes back to talking about the new game coming out this September Bio shock 4. Finally, he finishes his meal and so does his friends and they all head home, upon reaching his house John notices no one is home and goes through the back window which is busted enough to easily slide open from the outside. He calls out his mom and dad's name as he looks around the house and finds out that truly no one is home. He checks the time and thinks out loud saying "It's 3 in the afternoon where'd everyone go?". He decides to finally listen to the voicemail from his mom and is expecting to hear his mom's voice scolding him for not telling her where he went the previous day but instead hears a man's voice, in fact not just any man's voice but his fathers and there is a distinct beeping in the background.
It only takes a few words coming from his father's voice before he started running towards his car feeling the tears fall from his face. His father's words were "John your mother is here to me and honestly the doctors say she might not make it through the night, now I know that we as in me and your mother and you have never truly gotten along like a perfect family but right now she needs you, John please answer the phone and come to Black drive Hospital as quickly as possible.". Quickly trying to shove the keys into the ignition he drops his keys and has to take a few minutes catching his breath and getting a hold of himself, he lays back in the chair and takes his time to recover. He pulls out his phone and calls his mother's phone this time hearing his father answer he exhaled deeply and his father was glad he was safe. "John please tell me you're on your way or leaving soon?" John 's father asked. John replied, "I'm taking a moment to get a hold of myself but how's mom doing?". "Honestly not good she's diving deeper and deeper into organ failure and the doctors can't stop it quickly enough. There were about 5 minutes of silence when John father said: "I need to let you go so you can get down here, please hurry.". The phone quickly hung up and John picked up his car keys putting them into the ignition and quickly driving to the hospital obeying any traffic laws since he knew the police stopping him would only slow him down. Finally, he arrived at the hospital and just sat there in his car for a while before getting up and walking in.
