Katerina's POV:
I ran through the woods in wolf form. It felt amazing since Cherie, my wolf, has been wanting to get out for weeks! I caught a rabbit or two and ate them while making my way back to school. I ducked behind a certain bush and found the bag with my clothes in it. I shifted into human form and threw the clothes on.
As I was shoving my foot into my other running shoe I heard a twig snap. On alert, I sniffed the air. A human. Oh shit. I pulled out a book and pretended to be reading as she came into the clearing. I looked up. "Can I help you?" I said politely.
"Y-y-you're a w-w-wolf." She stammered. Oh sh*t, she saw me shift! (Kinda rhymes.) "I'm sorry, what?" I lied quickly. When in doubt, Lie. "Your a wolf. I saw you change back to human. I'm telling everyone at school!" She said in a stronger tone. Wait, if she saw me shift, how come I couldn't smell her? "You're dreaming. I'm not a wolf." I said harshly. Drastic times call for drastic measures.
I reached into my pocket and tapped a voice recording app on my phone. "Yes you are! You wolf is black you liar! Everyone will know tomorrow." She taunted me. "Okay, hypothetically speaking, let's say I am a wolf. If wolves have a super sense of smell, then you would have a scent. Is it possible you couldn't?" I said in a calm and reasoned tone with my heart pounding. The girl did something I wouldn't expect. She smiled.
"I'm a hunter stupid. I just tricked you into telling me you're a werewolf. Time to die doggy!" Lunging at me, she misjudged the distance and closed her arms on empty air. The color drained out of my face, a hunter? I'm in deep trouble. I hoped my phone was still recording and aimed a roundhouse kick at her head.
It made contact as I'd hoped. She fell to the ground and I took off running towards home. Sure it was 12:09 but screw school! I used wolf speed to get home fast and reached into my pocket to turn the recording off. I'll show this to mom and dad. I reached the front door and threw it open.
"Mom! Dad! Someone knows my secret and you're not going to like who!" I shouted into the kitchen. Only my mom showed up with her hair tied loosely in a braid. "Kat! tell me what happened!" she said anxiously. I pulled out my phone and tapped on the recording and handed it to my mom. "Hit play."
3 minutes later my mom's face was white. "Kat! I've got something to tell you. We're moving to the country anyway so nobody can judge you about this." she said, trying to sound happy. It took a minute to register. "That's great mom- wait, what? we're moving?" shock was written on my face. "Yes dear we have to change packs though." That registered fast. "No!" was all I said. I've grown up in the Day Sun pack and my mom and dad have been here forever too.
"Unfortunately yes we have to change packs. The new one is called Thunder Creek." Well that was creative. Thunder Creek. Has a better ring to it than Day Sun.
