As she walked into the school building, she was laughed at, made fun of, etc. She hated herself for what she had become. She wanted him, and to keep him. Her body wanted her, and her mind wanted him. She was humiliated. She went home crying, as if someone in her family died, in which her case someone did. She died, he lived. She wanted to jump, if she jumped, he would go. He wanted to show off his new looks, show who he is, the new him. He wanted to shine, but her shine died out. They had to compromise and keep each other for them, not for someone else, and to also keep each other for themselves.
