Chapter Three
Sean walked to Quinn's home with a weary pace. He had to be mistaken, they had to be pulling his leg or something. This was just too weird. Who even believes in ghosts nowadays anyway?
He double checked the address on his phone, Quinn had sent the text before he had a chance leave school. This made the only good excuse he could think of pretty impossible to pull off. Continuing down the street he noticed a dilapidated house. The Shutters were either hanging by single hinges or missing entirely. Where there was grass, it was in need to be cut but it was mostly dead from an obvious lack of care. The closer he came to the front door, the more certain he was that this is Quinn's house.
No wonder the kid thought his friend was a ghost.
He walked up the sagging steps to the front door. Filled with uncertainty, he nervously knocked on the door only to feel the paint chip as his hand tapped at it. Sean hoped that his knock was quiet enough that the residents wouldn't hear, giving him a reason to turn tail and run without losing his pride.
No such luck.
Quinn opened the door quickly, almost as if he had been waiting just on the other side.
“Good, you made it.”
“Yeah....” Sean didn't see how this was good. Either he was being made fun of or he was nuts.
“Well come on. Ghost is waiting in my room. He wanted to greet you too, but I figured you were probably freaked enough as it is....” Quinn babbled the entire way to his room.
Sean couldn't help but notice the inside of the house reflected its exterior. Faded and peeling wall paper, tiles cracked or missing in spots on the floor. Oddly enough, even though the décor was lacking in care and maintenance, the place was pretty clean. No dust bunnies and cob webs.
“....He might be pouting when we get in there, don't worry though he'll brighten up. We are pretty excited and nervous as well.”
Quinn opened the door to his bedroom, briefly wondering what was spawning this blabber mouth he had. He never talked this much. Thankfully his mom was out of the house doing some random thing or another. Quinn felt they needed no interruptions and he definitely did not want to deal with his mother today, or any day really.
Ghost rushed over as soon as the two other boys entered the room. The pouting no where to be seen.
Sean took a brief glance around the room, noticing the drastic change from the rest of the house. This room was perfectly put together. No damage to be seen, everything in its place and was very well cared for.
“Hey Sean.” Ghost said excitedly. Practically bouncing up and down.
'Can ghosts bounce?' Sean though randomly as the description of the other boy's actions came to him.
“H-hey.”
“You still don't think I'm really a ghost do you?”
“Well....I have a few doubts.”
