chapter 1

He touched her face and spoke the words she was urging to hear for three years, " i love you Sky" , "WAKE UP SKY!!" It was her mom waking her up for her first day of senior year. "Oh man" she thought to herself, "why do i keep having dreams but never finish them". "Y no te olvidas de orar".

She was a Puerto Rican Pentecostal living in Manhattan, she was going to a christian high school and this was her last year in high school. "I know ma" Sky replied to her moms daily reminder to pray before she left the house "Father, i ask you in the name of Jesus, that you protect me and don't let anything negative hurt me or speak to me, y que todo pase como tu lo quieras, Amen." Sky got up and went to shower and was now putting on her skirt and flats,brushing her long curly hair, that she hasn't cut it,since it had been damaged.

"Let this year go by fast" Sky said as she put her Bible in her purse. Sky just disconnected her phone from charging when her best friend Rosie was calling her, Rosie is Sky's best friend in school and church, everyone thought they were twins. " Hey ,Rosie whats up?"  

"Nothing, just here in Mikes car, were going to pick you up"Nothing just here in mikes car, we're going to pick you up in five minutes be ready, oh and see if you can bring oatmeal, me and mike were fasting , he says its god for our relationship and for other guys not to look at me, I was laughing cause he's so protective of everything God has given him, like his new car" Rosie said, " I think all guys are like that Rosie" Sky said. "I wonder if your guy is going to be like that" Rosie said to Sky laughing.

"Rosie don't start, everything has its time and when God gives me the right guy ill accept it ,but I doubt it'll happen this year" Sky said to Rosie, " you never know , anyways we're outside come out, and don't forget the oatmeal".

"Hey Rosie and Mike" said Sky smiling, "hey Rapunzel, your beautiful angelic smile "Rosie said sarcastically. "Oh don't start Rosie, I'm too tired for compliments", Sky told Rosie. "What's up curly?" said Mike "nada . Hambre" responded Sky as she closed the car door slowly with no strength. "Your car smells like the perfume section in Macy's" Sky told Mike" cool, that's what I want".

"Oh please" said Rosie .Mike had a new mustang convertible ,it had a bumper sticker that said "Jesus is the truth the way and the life , john 3:16" and the back plate said "Glory2God. It was a 2 hour drive to their high school called "Pentecostal high school for youth". While Mike and Rosie were jamming to Emily Pena, Sky was stuck on the dream she had and wondering if this year, her last year in high school, she would finally meet "the guy" Sky was back in reality as the Cd started playing coros and she was singing to with them .Sky just left that dream behind her to forget.

Sky ordered three MCchickens and a medium drink , she was going to save the last one for when they were leaving cause she knew she would get hungry .Mike and Rosie were sharing a large drink and fries and chicken nuggets with barbecue sauce ."Did you pray before you eat Rosie?" asked Mike? "Ooh you better before that fry turns into a snake or a worm" said Sky "OK" Mike and Rosie prayed and went back eating. Back in their last period of class Rosie and Mike and Sky were sitting at their table in class together and everyone was talking about what chapter of the Bible they would all study this year .
