(Chapter 17)

(Clarissa’s POV)

“Hey mum, it’s Harry.” A muffled voice came from the other end and I sucked in a breathe. I tapped Harry’s shoulder until he turned to me.

“Speaker.” I mouthed to him. He nodded and made a move to change it.

“We’re at Louis’ house tonight. We’ll be in Holmes Chapel tomorrow afternoon and we’ll be there for two days.”

“That’s great. I can’t wait to see you.” A soft accent played through.

“I can’t wait either.” Harry said with a nervous tone.

“Harry, are you alright?”

“Yeah, I am. It’s just, you haven’t been looking at the magazines and the gossip sites, right?”

“You told me not to, so I have not. Now what’s going on?”

“It’s just I’m bringing a guest home.” His voice turned questionable at the word ‘guest’.

“New girlfriend?”

“No.”

“Any the boys’ girlfriend?”

“No.”

“Then who is it?” A nervousness seeped from her voice.

“You’ll meet her tomorrow and I know you’ll love her.”

“Ok. I trust you.”

“Good.”

“Oh I have a question.”

“What?”

“Your father told me that he was visiting tomorrow, because you told him to be there when you arrived.”

“You’ll figure it out tomorrow. I love you and I’ve got to go!”

“Love you too. Goodbye!” Harry hung up.

“They’re both going to be there?”

“Uh… surprise.”

“How am I going to face them after everything?”

“Just let everything happen. You won’t regret it.” Harry looked deep into my eyes and clasped his hands onto my shoulders. I pushed myself away from him and shook my head.

“I need some air.” I quickly walked out of the room and hurried to the backyard of the Tomlinson household. I let out a few deep breathes before sitting on a patio chair. I put my long curly mess of hair into a messy bun before letting my face fall into my hands. I don’t know how long I sat there, but during that period the temperature definitely dropped.

The night was quiet with the exception of the wind. The hushed breeze was certainly a good for thinking. Only two days from now, I would be turning 19 and for anybody else they would be excited, but for me, it was only a reminder that I hadn’t known my parents for 18 years. Tomorrow I would be meeting the people missing from my entire life, the people who missed the ups and the downs in my life, the people who missed me growing up into the person I am today and that was a depressing thought.

“I didn’t know you got a tattoo.” The voice made me jump and turn around.

“I have two. I got them about a week ago.” Louis walked closer as I turned back.

“Why don’t you have a jacket? It’s freezing out.”

“It really didn’t cross my mind.” Louis draped his jacket on my shoulders as he sat down next to me. I took this opportunity to look him in his eyes. “Thanks.”
