Fake Smiles

#50: Pregnancy

1st month

Grayson was lying in bed, waiting for Lily to join him. She crawled into their bed (Grayson had asked her to move in a week ago). She lay in bed with him. "I've been thinking about baby names" she said. Grayson looked down at her. "If it's a boy: Grant. If it's a girl: Bailey. What do you think?"

"I love it!"

Grayson and Lily were in the waiting room with Ethan, Lisa and Sean. They were there for Lily's first ultra scan. Everyone was excited. Eventually, her name was called. They all entered the room and waited for the baby's heartbeat.

The doctor looked at Ethan and Grayson. "Who's the father?" He asked. Grayson put his hand up while he was holding Lily's hand as the doctor did the ultra scan. The doctor watched the screen, and then frowned.

"What?!" Grayson panicked when he saw the doctor's reaction. "What's wrong?!"

"Nothing" the doctor replied. "But, it seems you're having twins". Grayson and Lily looked at each other. Grayson kissed the top of her head as the doctor continued to take the scan. The scan was finally over, and they had a picture of their babies. When they got home, Lily took a quick nap.

2nd month

Lily was looking in the mirror at herself from the side. She ran her fingers along her bump. She sighed as she faced the mirror. She stared at the bump for a while. She soon felt a pair of hands move along her hips to her stomach. She looked in the mirror to see Grayson standing behind her.

"You're beautiful to me, no matter what" Grayson said.

"I just feel fat" Lily admitted. "Some of my clothes aren't fitting over my bump. And I've hardly got any clothes that fit me anymore. What happens when I no longer have any clothes?" She asked. Grayson kissed her cheek.

"I guess you're going to have to go shopping for new clothes with my mom!"

3rd month

Lily was sitting in Grayson's bed. Ethan and Grayson were out filming. Lisa and Sean had gone home for a week to tell everyone at home. Lily was watching Netflix on Grayson's laptop while eating ice cream.

The bedroom door opened and Grayson's head popped through the door. "Hey" he smiled. He joined her in bed. "What are you doing?" He saw her watching movies and eating a huge tub of ice cream. He shook his head as he joined her.

4th month

"GRAYSON!" Lily yelled in anger. He came rushing into the room. She turned to face him."HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU TO MAKE THE BED WHEN YOU WAKE UP!" Grayson looked shocked at her outburst. "AND TO CLEAN YOUR WARDROBE! AND PUT YOUR CHARGER IN YOUR DRAWER!"

Grayson walked towards her and placed his hands on her shoulders. "Calm down, don't stress. Okay? Come on, we need to go shopping for the nursery". Lily followed him out the apartment to go looking for things for the nursery.

5th month

Lily was helping Ethan and Grayson paint the nursery. They were painting the walls a magnolia colour. Lily was constantly worrying and stressing about the nursery. She wanted everything to be perfect.

They were painting when Lily began to struggle to breathe. She stopped and began to breathe heavily. Grayson ran to her. He picked her up and carried her to the car. Ethan drove to the hospital while Grayson stayed with Lily in the back of the car.

After waiting for two hours, the doctor finally came to Ethan and Grayson. "She's fine. You can see her, if you'd like". The twins followed the doctor to Lily's room. They saw her lying in bed with an oxygen mask over her mouth and nose.

Grayson sat next to her and held her hand. The doctor stood at the foot of the bed. "The cancer has increased. You can get treatment, and slow it down, but... it may harm your babies". Lily was shocked.

"What?! No! I don't want treatment! I don't want to harm my babies!" She exclaimed. The doctor nodded and left. Grayson turned to Lily.

"Lily, you're going to harm yourself!"

"I don't care! I'm not going to put my babies - our babies - at risk!"

They finally went home. Before they left, the doctor spoke to Lily. "Make sure you rest. Don't rush anything, and try not to stress about things". Lily nodded as she went home.

6th month

Lily was sitting on the couch watching Netflix with Cameron. Cameron had been there when Lily needed a girl to talk to. Cameron was on a break from college and was staying with Lily. They were eating ice cream while watching love movies. They were interrupted when the twins walked into the kitchen.

Lily paused the movie. "How's the nursery looking? Is is complete? Is it perfect? Have you made a mistake?" Lily asked. The twins were covered in paint. Grayson laughed as he walked towards her.

"It's perfect, I promise". He kissed her before going back into the nursery. Lily spent the day with Cameron, watching movies, planning a baby shower, looking at baby clothes on the internet.

7th month

Grayson and Lily were shopping when Lily saw the baby isle. She walked to the shoes and showed Grayson a small pair of blue shoes. "Oh my God! Look at how cute these are!" She began to cry looking at them. Grayson got worried.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

"There's so cute!" She cried even more. "I can't wait for our babies!" She then picked up a pink little outfit that said Daddy's Little Princess. "We have to buy these! They're so cute!" Grayson laughed as he took the clothing from her hands and placed it in the shopping cart. Lily began to look around at the baby clothing, and placed them in the shopping cart.

8th month

Grayson and Lily were Lying in bed. Lily had her head on Grayson's chest. All of a sudden, she felt the babies kick. She jolted upright in bed. Grayson quickly sat up and held her. "What's wrong?!"

"I felt them kick" Lily breathed. She grabbed Grayson's hand and placed it on her stomach. He soon felt something hit the palm of his hand. He smiled at Lily. She lay back down and felt them kick.

Grayson lowered himself and began to talk to the babies. "Hiya!" He said. "This is daddy. Me and Mommy love you both so much! We can't wait to hold you for the first time!" Lily laughed when she felt him kiss her stomach. Grayson looked up at her. He hovered over her and lowered himself. There lips were brushing against each other.

"Don't think I forgot about you!" He kissed her passionately. He had his arms on either side of her and deepened the kiss. Eventually, they broke apart and fell asleep.

Giving Birth

Lily was admiring the nursery when she felt a huge kick, and then something wet run down her leg. She looked down and began to panic. "GRAYSON!" She yelled. He came running into the nursery. "I think my water just broke".

He rushed her to the hospital. He held her hand as she gave birth. She was crying from the pain. She squeezed Grayson's hand every time she had to push. She screamed when she pushed the first baby out: a boy. She pushed again, and again, and again. Until, finally, the girl was born. Lily smiled as she looked at her babies. She saw Grayson holding the girl while she was holding the boy.

Slowly, her heartbeat began to slow down. The babies were taken away. Grayson tried to stay with Lily, but he was being pushed out the room. And then...

...her heart stopped...

...and so did his.
