You called me, said he broke your heart again.

Won't you let me pick up the pieces,

Let me pick up the pieces baby?

Spencer was devastated. She thought that he loved her. He told her he loved her. But he went and broke her heart.

She never thought she deserved someone like Toby. Deep down, she knew she was in love with him, but she didn't think he felt the same. They were friends. And that was it.

So she went along and accepted Wrens' offer to go out, even though somewhere deep inside of her, she always knew she loved Toby.

However, Wren went along and broke her heart, cheating on her with her own sister. How lovely. How absolutely fascinating.

Sobbing, Spencer picked up her phone to call the boy who was always there for her.

"Hey Spence, whats up?" He asked when she picked up, even though he was, as usual, nervous about talking to her. He had already admitted to himself that he was completely and utterly in love with her, but he had to keep his cool and control himself. He had to respect the fact that she had a boyfriend.

"T-Toby I n-n-need you." She sobbed. Wren broke her heart. It wasn't so much the fact that she loved Wren as it was that he had cheated on her with Melissa, her competitor. In fact, Spencer didn't love Wren.

"Spence, are you okay? Ill be there in five. Just hang on, okay?" He said, already dressed and out the door. He really cared for Spencer, and was willing to do anything for her, even if he was 'friend zoned'.

"I-I'm fine. J-j-just please c-come here." She cried into the phone, but he was already in his truck, leaving to her house. Three minutes later, he pulled up on her driveway, not caring about anything but comforting her.

"Spence, what's wrong?" He asked, coming in the house through the front door, which was unlocked.

"H-he cheated on m-m-me." She stutters, and that's when he sees her, curled up on the couch, crying. He takes only a moment to piece everything together before rushing to the couch and wrapping his arms around her.

"Hey, honey, it's okay. He wasn't worth it. It's all okay." He whispers softly into her ear, and she finds it extremely comforting.

"Y-you d-d-don't even know t-the best p-part. He cheated on m-me with... Melissa." He now understands why she is so upset. Besides the fact that her boyfriend cheated on her, it was with Melissa, her all-time rival and competitor. She had always tried to outdo Melissa, but her parents favored the older sister for some reason.

"Spencer, you know what, if he cheated on you with her, he's missing out. You're beautiful, smart, kind, sweet, loving and so much more and honestly, I don't see why the idiot would even consider another girl when he was lucky enough to have you, but he must be mentally insane or something. You're amazing, Spencer, and if he didn't see that, he was an idiot. And you wouldn't want to date an idiot anyways, would you?" Toby asked her, hoping his words sounded comforting. They did.

And that is how Spencer fell asleep, in Toby's arms, wondering how she ever deserved a friend like him, wondering if he would ever consider her as more than a friend, but quickly ruling out the possibility, thinking he deserves better.

Unbeknownst to her, Toby was watching her sleep. He was thinking about what it would be like to hold her in his arms if they were together. He wonders what it would be like to kiss her. He wishes she were his.
