A/N: so this is not some of my best work, but it's not that bad. Y'all ready for some Portgas D. Ace?

Gosh I love this  boy  so much you have ho idea, (Law baby don't fret, you know you're still my number one ;) ) Okay mina, here we go... ENJOY!!

Ace couldn't quite believe his eyes, he subtly pinched his arm to make sure he wasn't imagining things. He'd been thinking a lot about (Y/N) lately, what were the odds he'd see her again here? When had she moved to the city? Why had no one told him?

"Hey, you alright mate? You look a bit pale." Marco asked pulling him out of his paralysed state. Ace shook of his shock and blinked and looked again to make sure he wasn't seeing things and that was when your bright eyes met his across the club.

He saw your eyes widen in shock and his name form your lips. The two of you stared at each other for moment forgetting everything and everyone around you.

"Is that (Y/N)?" Marco asked curiously, "When did she move here?"

"I don't know." Ace said as he placed his drink on the table and made his way across the packed club to where you stood frozen next to your friends. He couldn't help but notice how you looked the same and yet different from the girl he knew four years ago. You'd lost some of the baby fat and turned it into lithe, feminine curves. Your eyes still sparkled but the child-like innocence had been diluted by the maturity one gains with age. Instead of the tomboy look of overalls and sneakers you used to love, you now looked breath-taking in a midnight blue mini lace dress and studded boots, perfect for a night out in the club.

You watched Ace approach you, your feet frozen to the ground. The part of your brain that was meant for self-perseveration screamed at you to high tail you ass the hell out of there, but your heart that still loved the boy who cruelly broke your heart four years ago, would not let you move.

His time in the city had treated him well, he looked good. Actually, he looked better that good, Ace had always been a handsome man and he'd become even more so over the time you two spent apart. Dressed in a bright orange shirt that had the first few buttons undone showcasing a bit of his sculpted chest and jeans, he easily drew most of the female attention to him. Before you could even register what was going on he was standing in front of you a tentative smile on his face.

"Hey."

"Hey yourself." He said smiling back, he returned your smile and the two of there just remained like that unsure of what to do until one of your friends cleared their throat.

"We're gonna hit the dancefloor." She said and you knew it was her way of giving you privacy with the mysterious man. They had no idea who he was, so of course they'd want you to give him a chance, they had no idea how hard it had been to piece yourself back together after he'd suddenly called things off and left.

"Go get him tiger!" Your other friend whispered in your ear before they left. You chuckled nervously as you observed Ace from under hooded lashes and waited for him to make the first move.

"Uh...wanna go talk somewhere a bit less crowded?" he asked. Against your better judgement, you placed your hand in his and let him lead you out of the club. You marvelled at the way your hands still fit perfectly together.

The two of your walked in silence as he led you a hotel a block away. He saw one look at your apprehensive form and was quick to explain himself;

"They have a nice bar in here, we can talk without being disturbed. Just talking, I promise." He said gently, his thumb rubbing soothing circles on the throbbing pulse at your wrist. You nodded your assent and he led you into the posh hotel.

"So...how've you been?" he asked after the two you had settled down and ordered your drinks.

"Good. You?" you answered as you twirled the straw in the colourful concoction that was your drink.

"I've been better." Ace replied. He had no idea what had possessed him to bring you here. Sure, there was a lot he wanted to say to you but the words just wouldn't come. He'd always been smooth with the ladies but when it came to you, all that suave charm deserted him. Four years ago, he'd panicked and prematurely called your relationship off before it could get more serious. It wasn't because of anything you'd done, but simply because somewhere in his subconscious his immature mind had known that you were more than a summer fling. You were the end game and he wasn't ready for that kind of commitment so in his stupidity he'd let the best thing that could ever happen to him go.

"When did you move here?" he asked.

"A few months ago, I got a job offer and decided it would be good to get a change of scenery." She replied quietly. Her skin was flushed, Ace had no idea if it was from the alcohol or the result of the way he'd been staring at her, either way he found it extremely alluring.

"What about you?" she asked. "I heard you travelled around a bit after you left East Blue." She asked curiously. Ace smirked;

"You've been keeping tabs on me?"

"O-of course not! I j-just happened to run into your brother and he told me he saw you when he visited Alabaster." She stuttered making Ace chuckle. That earned him a kick to the shin.

"Ouch, still so violent I see." He quipped.

"You know I hate being made fun off." she replied sourly. "Anyway...how've you been?"

Ace chuckled. "You asked that already. Nervous (Y/N)?"

"What do you expect. You and I didn't exactly part on good terms..." she shot back.

"I know it breaks your heart. Moved to a city in a broke down car and four years no calls. Now you're looking pretty in a hotel bar..." Ace sang.

"What?" (Y/N) asked confused.

"Nothing, just a song I heard a while back." He said. "Look (Y/N), I know I hurt you and I want to apologise for the way I handled things." He said. (Y/N) nodded.

"I'm not that angry anymore, but if you're about to ask me for a second chance forget it." she said drily. Ace gaped at that statement; "That wasn't...I wasn't going to...I was just going to ask if we could put everything behind us and start over." He said.

"As friends?" (Y/N) asked sceptically. Ace swallowed.

"As friends." He said out loud. For now, he added internally. (Y/N) regarded him for a while before answering;

"Alright, we can start over...as friends."
