“Eve! Eve wake up!” my best friend Alaska woke me up. Let me introduce myself, my name is Everly. I am not exactly human, I’m an angel? Why am I on earth? Well I’m a guardian angel I protect people. Who am I protecting? Someone named Christopher Cerulli, his past is catching up to him. It’s my job to stop his inner-demons coming back to haunt him. I don’t know who this Christopher Cerulli is exactly all I know is he is a musician. I took on persona of Eve Brightly, my name is really Everly…just Everly. Though I do go by Eve. I was decided I should use a name similar to my own. I have British accent so I simply say I’m from London. Alaska and I headed downtown for a nice stroll. I saw the gothic man that I was assigned too.
“Alaska, who’s that?” I asked.
“Chris Cerulli, I went to high school with him,” Alaska said. “He’s a total jerk to me,”
“I gotta go,” I said.
“Wait Eve!” Alaska called.
I walked over to the man he gothic, tall and lengthy. “Hi, I’m Eve Brightly,”
“Eve, are you a fan of my band or something,” Chris asked.
“No, I mean yes!” I said.
“Here’s a signature, Eve,” Chris said handing me a yellow post-it note. Not what I was expecting. “You don’t look like an Eve more like an Everly.”
So he’s the right guy. He knew I’m Everly and not Eve. When I looked into his eyes though, I felt butterflies. It happens every time! I suck at being a guardian. “Everly?”
I looked at him. “Yes?”
“This may sound crazy but I think I’ve been dreaming about you,” Chris said.
“Yes, that sound a tad crazy,” I said. “You don’t have to call me Everly, you can call me Eve,”
“Eve, I like that name,” Chris said with a smile.
“Eve, c’mon!” Alaska said. “I can’t believe you were flirting with Chris,”
“Really! I wasn’t flirting, Alaska, you’re crazy,” I said. I couldn’t be flirting that would ruin everything. I couldn’t give up being a guardian angel it’s my life. Life before love. When I made the decision to become a guardian angel I took a pledge to fall in love with a human, and never let love get in the way. I had to leave because of my feelings. They offered to take out my emotions, Elizabeth and Cole said no. It gets in the way.
The next day I went on a walk on my own, I hoped to run into Chris Cerulli again but didn’t. It began to rain so I quickly found shelter underneath a bus stop area. The bus driver stopped.
“You getting a ride or what, Sweet Cheeks?” I got on and was greeted with a great surprise. Chris was there.
“Mind if I take that seat?” I asked.
“Sure you can have it,” Chris said. “Say you were that girl yesterday, your name’s Everly, right?”
“Eve,” I corrected him. “My name is Eve, not Everly,”
“Remember, how I said I had dreams about you?” Chris asked.
“Yeah?” I said.
“In those dreams your name was Everly and you were an angel, you said you were gonna protect me from stupid mistakes,” Chris said.
“Do you believe guardians walk among people?” I asked. “What if they fell in love with someone who was mortal?”
“What?” Chris asked. “I dunno,” Chris grabbed my hand and I felt butterflies. I grabbed it back. I will have to leave soon. “Eve, I think you’re my guardian angel,”
“Me?” I acted confused. I was blushing the entire time.
“Yeah you,” Chris said.
That night Gabriel, a fellow guardian, came to have a chat with me. “Everly, you’re falling in love,” Gabriel said.
“What! No I’m not!” I said.
“Everly, you’ve done this thousands of times I’ve seen you fall in love,” Gabriel said. “Everly, you’re girl and all, but you can’t fall in love,”
“But Gabriel, I’m not falling in love,” I said.
“Everly, you are.” Gabriel said. “Now come with me,”
“Yes, Gabriel,” I said.
“You shall watch from afar with me,”
The legend of Everly’s story sparked through generations of guardians. A new law was passed you could fall in love with a mortal, but never act upon it. Everly never went back to earth to be with Chris. Chris’s love for Everly faded because Everly wasn’t his soul mate. Everly wanted there to be encounters with Chris and his soul mate. So there were. Everly’s name was forever engraved on Chris’s heart.
