Ashton groaned as he sat up in his bed. His alarm was screeching at him, stating that it was now 5 am. The sum light shone brightly through his window. Ashton squinted his eyes, so the sun would hurt a bit less. He sat there for a moment, wondering if he slept in for a bit, would he still make it to school? It might not be a good idea to test that on the first day of school, he decided. After sitting there for a while, he finally rolled out of bed.

After turning off the alarm clock, he pulled off the pink t-shirt he was wearing and looked at himself in the mirror. He was a bit thin, but he liked what he saw, more or less. He cracked his knuckles and flexed, and saw a bit of muscle. I should start going to the gym again, he thought. He stopped flexing and looked toward his bedroom door and noticed it was cracked open a bit. He walked over and closed the door. I hope Sammy didn't see that...
His sister Sammy was most likely awake already, so there was a possibility that if she did walk by, she might've seen that. After putting on some deodorant, he quickly pulled on a random t-shirt and put on his favorite dark grey hoodie and pulled on some navy blue skinny jeans. He slipped on a pair of socks and some black Converse shoes.
He grabbed his phone and unplugged it from the charger. He saw that he had more notifications than usual, and saw that he had received 5 texts from his friend Penelope. He opened them and they said "hey hey !!hey are u awakw :99" "awake* lol" "cande and matt moved here early!!! :D" "theyre going to be @ school tomorrow omg :ooo" and "lol im gonn guess ur still asleep oopsies".
Ashton smiled and texted her back saying "Yeah, I was asleep. It was like 3 am. That's cool, you're going to introduce me to them right? I'll see you at school." Penelope and Ashton had been friends for a long time. Penelope had a crush on a boy named Jackson who went to their school. She became friends with his friends to try to get closer to him, and Sammy and Ashton just so happened to be part of that friend group.
Jackson and Penelope dated for a little while, and Penelope realized he wasn't as great as she thought he was. The group of friends had comforted her, but Ashton and Sammy had been there the most. Penelope had grown very close to them as a result.
Cande and Matt were Penelope's brothers, who had been separated from her due to child custody problems. Their parents had been killed and their uncle had taken them in and abused them. The uncle had been revealed as the murder and taken to jail. Cande and Matt went to live with their grandparents in California, while Penelope wanted to stay with their aunt in Virginia.
They stayed in touch through Skype and Snapchat, and Penelope had introduced Sammy and Ashton to them and they had all become close. Cande and Ashton had definitely become close.
Cande was very friendly and openly gay, and Ashton admired how confident Cande was with himself. Ashton was a bit confused with his sexuality, so he classified himself as heteroflexible, or bicurious.
Cande was a hermaphrodite, meaning he had both male and female genitalia. More specifically, he had breasts and a... well you know what a guy has. Ashton thought it was a bit weird at first, but he soon realized that the only thing difference about Cande was his anatomy.
Ashton was very excited to get to meet Cande and Matt. Their grandparents were going to a retirement home, so they were moving to Virginia with Penelope and their aunt. He realized that he had gotten a text back from Penelope saying "cande is v excited to get to meet u ;p". Ashton simply responded back with a winky face and put his phone in his pocket.
"Time to get ready," Ashton mumbled as he walked into the bathroom to brush his hair. He sprayed it with some water and some spray hair gel. He ran his hands through it a bit and rinsed off his hands and got ready to make something to eat before school.
He went into the kitchen to see Sammy making a bowl of cereal. She was wearing a Pierce The Veil t-shirt and a black jacket, with some dark grey jeans and red Converse.
"Hey Sam. You excited for today?" Ashton said, walking up to her. "Heck yeah, dude," she spun around with a huge grin on her face.
Ashton smiled and proceeded onto making his own breakfast. He stuck a bagel in the toaster and went back into his room to continue getting ready while his bagel was cooking.
He picked up his Axe BodySpray and sprayed himself all over. He saw a pack of gum sitting on top of his dresser and put it in his pocket. Just in case, he thought. He started walking over to his book bag to pick it up, but stopped by the mirror again. He looked at his face. He rubbed his chin, feeling the smooth skin, happy to have shaved last night, but yet, missing the hair that used to be there.
He noticed the dark bags under his eyes and frowned. "I need to start going to bed earlier," he sighed. He backed away from the mirror and grabbed his phone charger, stuffing it in his bookbag, and slung the bookbag over his shoulder.
He walked back out to the kitchen and saw Sammy eating her cereal and he put his bag down so he could eat his own food. He took the cream cheese out of the fridge and took a butter knife out of the silverware drawer.
After they had finished their breakfast, Ashton and Sammy brushed their teeth and headed out to their bus stop. "It's still dark out," Sammy said, marveling at the dark sky. "Yeah, you wouldn't be so surprised if you didn't sleep in until 5 pm," Ashton teased.
"Oh shut up," Sammy scoffed, "At least I do sleep, unlike some people." Ashton rolled his eyes and put his headphones in his ears and put on SoundCloud.
After a couple minutes, the bus rolled up and they got on it. Ashton sat closer to the window, while Sammy preferred the part closer to the aisle. She seemed to have drifted off almost as soon as she sat down. How does she do that? He wondered.
He took off his bookbag and set it on his lap and checked his phone to see that he had gotten two texts from Cande. They said "hey cutie, cant wait to see ur hot self in person ;))" and "omg im so sorry penelope took my phone ;-;". Ashton blushed a bit and said, "Can't wait to see you either, babe ;)" and "oops sorry Sammy took my phone haha how silly ;))".
Ashton smiled and leaned against the window, thinking about how exciting the day would be.
