I stared out of the classroom window as I rest my chin on my knuckles. I glanced at my wrist watch to check the time. Last ten minutes. I looked at my Math professor, Mr. Davis, who's discussing about Inverse Functions. As what I recall, the last discussion he had is about Linear Functions. My eyes rolled over to my best friend, Katie Evan, who is sitting two chairs to my right, doodling things I can't understand. She must've felt me staring at her and looks at me over her shoulder. Her eyes rolled telling me that she's very bored. I chuckled at her action.
Finally, the school bell rings and students start to pack their things to leave while Mr. Davis is still wrapping his lesson up. I stuffed my notebook with papers I used earlier in solving some problems Mr. Davis is explaining as I try to keep up with the lesson. As soon as he finished his wrap up, I leap to my feet and went near Katie.
"Burrito for lunch?" she energetically asked.
"Again? We just had that yesterday," I said as I help her put her things inside her bag.
"Come on! My treat!" Her smile is from ear to ear.
"How can I say no to that?" I chuckled.
Students immediately left the room in a swift of a second. Katie and I headed to the door when Mr. Davis called our attention.
"Ms. Grey," he fixed his eyeglasses at the bridge of his nose. "May I have a moment, please?"
"Sure, sir," I said.
"I'll meet you at the cafeteria," Katie said before leaving.
"Is there any problem, sir?" I worriedly asked. Situations like this where my professors talk to me privately rarely happens.
"Oh, nothing serious. I just want to commend your consistent grades. You're one of our students who we treasure the most and we hope you will finish this school year as what we expect," he genuinely smiles.
I reciprocate the smile and nod. "Of course, sir."
"Well, then, off you go. I bet you're starving with all that lesson we had earlier in Algebra," he said and both of us laughed.
"Thank you for the reminder, sir," I waved my hand goodbye before turning away from the professor.
I saw Katie in our usual spot in the cafeteria, by the large window where we can see the trees. Oh, how I love nature.
"Hey," I tap her shoulder for her to know that I arrived since she's wearing her earphones again.
"Hey..." she removed her earphones. "How's the conversation? Why did Mr. Davis want to talk to you?"
"Nothing much. Just a reminder of my grades," I sip from the apple juice she ordered for me.
"Pft... Reminder of your grades? We all know he doesn't need to remind you about that. You're perfect, Em!"
I rolled my eyes and threw a piece of fries at her. "No I'm not!" I chuckled.
"Yes, you are! Even though you don't study, you always pass all examinations. Scratch that! Not just pass, you always get the highest grade in all examinations! I've witnessed it a hundred of times," she dramatically said.
"You're exaggerating, Katie," I chuckle more.
"No, I'm not! You are not just perfect with your grades, Em. You also have the looks which make me feel that it's unfair."
"Stop with those flattering words. First, I do study hard and that is the reason for my grades. And about the looks," I spread my hands gesturing that she should take a clear look. "I definitely do not have the looks! I mean look at me!"
"Yes, you do. Remove those glasses and wear decent clothes, you will look gorgeous."
"These are decent clothes..."
"Long skirts, plain blouse and cardigan. Yeah, those are decent alright. Waaay back 1990's," she teased and chuckle.
"That's enough. You're making me as the topic again. Let's just finish our food and head back to our next subject."
As we continue eating while chitchatting with one another, we heard a commotion at the side of the cafeteria where the students start to gather. Katie, being very curious as she is, immediately rose from her seat and run to the commotion. And of course, since I always fear she might be entangled with the commotion, I followed her.
"Yeah, take him down!" Students cheer to what seems like a fight between two male students.
"Call a teacher," I told the student next to me. She immediately scurried away to call someone for help.
"What's your problem, dude?!" one of the male student who is entangled with the fight shouted. His nose and the edge of his lips are now bleeding. On the other side, the other student doesn't even have a single scratch.
"You are the f***ng problem," the other student said and gave the bleeding student another punch. He tried to dodge the punches but he can't. The guy is too fast. It seems like he is a professional boxer because of his moves.
"Someone stop them!" One from the crowd shouted.
"Hell no! This is thrilling!" One contradicted.
"The poor boy will be hospitalized for sure," I heard the student next to me said.
I look at the bleeding student and true enough. Another punch will knock him out. I don't meddle with others business. In fact, I never did. But I can't take to see the scene anymore. I run towards the fight and blocked myself for the student bleeding before another punch lands on his face.
"Stop!" I bravely said and stare at the guy in front of me whose fist stopped in the midair. He stared at me like he is shocked to see me. Who wouldn't be? A girl suddenly jumped in front of a fight scene saying that the fight should stop. I feel so crazy and stupid doing this impulsive thing.
The guy slowly put his fist down but his eyes are still on mine. He stares at me like he knows me. Why do I feel like I've already known this guy for ages? Just as I was about to ask him if he knows me, the student behind me fell on the ground, unconscious. Right on time, the teachers came and they immediately tend to the unconscious student.
"Mr. Miller, in my office. Now!" Mr. Brown, the guidance counselor instructed the guy. So his surname's Miller. I look at the guy and he is still staring at me. I creased my eyebrows from his actions.
"Mr. Miller!"
The guy glared at the counselor. He has the guts to do so. He gave me one last glance before following Mr. Brown.
"You, crazy girl! Why did you do that?!" Katie scolded me when she already managed to come near me. "You always scold me not to be entangled with any fights and you threw yourself into a fight! You're unbelievable!" she continues her nagging but my mind is still thinking of the guy earlier.
"Who is he?" I ask as I stare at the retreating back of the guy and Mr. Brown.
"I heard from a student earlier he is a transfer student," she answered. "Come on. We'll be late for our next class."
Katie dragged me out of the cafeteria as I still stare at the transfer student. He's making me curious. Who could he be?

And so it begins! It's been a while since I made another story. This is my first time to make a Daragon fanfiction and I'm so nervous about it since there are a lot of good Daragon fanfics. *bites fingernails* I'm actually having second thoughts if I'll still post it or not but still, I've given it a try.
Hope everyone enjoys the story. How do you like it so far? =)
