"Ari! Time to go!"

Elena called from downstairs. I finished my look with the legendary red lipstick. What can I say, that's how people describe us vampires. Pale complexion, black as favorite color, sexy as hell, and blood red lipstick. Well, for their information, green is my favorite color, I always wear pink or nude lipstick, and I sure as hell ain't sexy. Though, they were right about our pale complexion. It's because we don't usually go out in the sun. We don't burn in sunlight, we just hate the brightness of day.

I fixed my shoulder length wavy hair then ran down the stairs with my black combat boots making a "boom" noise every step I make. I'm not fat, that's just how boots sound when you run in wooden stairs. I fixed my white backless blouse, as suggested by Elena that I should dress more like this, showing lots of skin, exposing my back tattoos. Like a stereotypical vampire, with matching black pants. I grabbed my coat from the sofa and then we were off. To where? To the club. I dread for this night, but since it was Elena's birthday, I couldn't say no to my best friend. Elena drove her Audi while I rode shotgun. Machine Gun Kelly's song was blasting through the speakers, and I just couldn't help but rap with him. Elena was laughing the whole time because she always found it amusing when I rap. I mean come on, who would thought the coven elder's daughter could rap?

The club was a ten-minute drive and when we arrived, the party was in full swing. Elena's father, Mr. Carlisle, owned the club. Elena parked the car and we got inside. Though she dragged me the whole walk inside. "Come on, Ari, live a little. For once, tonight. Just let go." She smiled at me, pleading to have fun. I sighed internally and smiled my full smile. "Okay. I will, since it's your birthday." We both danced and had drinks, though, I don't know how many I had, but whoa, I have never felt this tipsy in my entire vampire existence. The music stopped and the white lights were turned on. And everyone sang in chorus the infamous birthday song. "Happy birthday, Elena!" I laughed as I saw her narrowing her eyes at her brother, Elliot. I knew she hated this kind of getup. To top it off, Elliot put a party hat on top of her head. Good thing she didn't take it off. She smiled and blew the candles in her cake. And everyone hooted. "PARTY!" Someone shouted and the lights turned to disco lights and the bass was booming from the speakers. The dancing continued and I... Well, I was sweaty and drunk, so I head to the bar and sat there, enjoying the view of my best friend having fun.

I remember the day when our parents introduced us to each other. It was the happiest day of my life, seeing as I was an only child, I have always wanted a sister or a brother. But my father never remarried after my mother died. He said no one could ever replace her as his wife, and as my mother. I was glad, though. I won't have to deal with evil stepmothers scheming on taking over my father's coven. And although there was this thing called soulmates, seeing as he's royalty, he can marry anyone he'd want to marry, and he can also choose to marry his soulmate. Hashtag perks. Anyway, as I was reminiscing the good times, goosebumps crawled their way from my neck down to my feet. Something was wrong. I scanned the room for threats. There was nothing. Everyone was having a good time, but my eyes were still scanning the room. Damn it! I shouldn't have drank that much. Vampires don't get drunk easily with pure alcohol. But with the right concoction of blood and garlic, all the senses would fuzz out.

I tried sobering up and thanks to my enhanced healing abilities, my head was cleared and all my senses came back to me. I tried to sniff the air and I faintly caught a scent of a human, but not just a human, a hunter. My eyes widened. Since I am a royal blood, all my senses were heightened fifteen times as a normal vampire. Everyone was oblivious to the vampire hunter searching for its prey in this very club. No hunter could ever cross the borders, and our location was well hidden. My eyes searched for Elena, but I couldn't see her. My heart beat so fast I couldn't breathe. The adrenaline was rushing through my blood. And then my eyes landed on the corner of the room. Everything was in slow motion. Never have I ever seen a creature as beautiful as him. Even though the lights were dim, I could see him clearly, and he was looking intently at me. His eyes were blue, just the right hue so as not to look cold, and his hair as black as a raven's and sexily ruffled. His lips were pink and parted like he was panting. His body was like of a Greek god, and damn, the muscles in my belly clenched in a sweet, delicious way. My lips parted and breathed out the air I didn't know I was holding. I swore I saw his eyes flicker a silver light. I wanted to run to him, but when I sniffed the air, I smelled him, and his scent was of a hunter's.

Oh, fuck.
