Complication

Chapter 1 : The Double Date

KATE'S POV

"You've got to be kidding me," I said as I searched for my headphones on my bed. I found them hidden underneath my pillow. I connected them to my phone.

"Kate, are you there?" Stella my best friend blared from the other end of the phone.

"Yes"

"So as I was saying earlier, we have a double date tonight at seven so dress well Ill meet you directly at the metropolitan grill, your favourite restaurant"

"Stella I am not coming. You know that I don't go for dates and all and moreover I have plans for tonight" the latter part was a lie actually. I had no plans.

"Bullshit Katie I know that you have no plans. You never have any plans on weekends. I know you would like always have a movie marathon else would read a novel."

I hate it when I cannot lie to my best friend. I tried coming up with a better excuse.

"Come on Katie please come for the date tonight for me. I have already said yes on your behalf."

"But I don't even know the guy's name, Stella" I try to make a point but as always I fail miserably.

"His name is Shawn Hart." I sigh. I know that Stella will not drop topic without me saying a yes

"Okay fine Ill come but only for an hour, deals?"

"Deal "I can imagine her jump with excitement.

I end the call and go back to reading my novel. I have three hours before it is seven.

At around six I go for a bath. I shave my hands and legs, wash my hair and scrub my skin thoroughly. By the time I come out after having my bath it's already six twenty. I check my wardrobe for clothes. I decide to wear something casual as the so called double date is only for an hour and I don't have to impress anyone there. I select my blue ripped jeans and sleeveless white top and white shoes for the night. Once I slip into my clothes and shoes i blow-dry my hair. I skip the makeup. I grab my sling and put my headphones, my wallet, my car keys and a rubber band. Once I am ready I rush towards my car as I have only ten minutes to reach metropolitan grill.

I park my car a street before the restaurant as I know I won't get any parking near it. While walking to the restaurant I call Stella

"Hi where are you?"

"I am just street down the restaurant, walking down the pavement. Will reach in 2"

"Cool! Just call me when you reach the restaurant so i will come out and fetch you. Okay?"

"Okay! Cool by me"

I start walking down the payment with my earphones on and stared listening to Shape of you by Ed Sheeran. Once I reached outside the restaurant I again called Stella.

"I reached, come outside!"

"Okay so now listen to me and don't be mad at me. This is no double date, I have fixed you up with someone and he is waiting for you inside, table on 9th far left corner of the restaurant and has a crepe bandage over the left hand. Best of luck! Have fun. Bye"

"Wait but listen I.."

And she hung up on me

I tried calling her but she dint answer. And I m fucked.....
