Cole's POV
I walked down the dirty dusty road, lost and weary. I didn't know where I was exactly, but all I knew it was the rural part of Ninjago. I had been wandering for days, not knowing where my next meal was at, or where my next destination was. For once in my life I didn't have a plan...
Who needed one? I mean it was never my plan to turn into a ghost. It was never my plan for Lloyd's dad to sacrifice himself.
It was never my plan for Zane to die again!
" Hey, would you like to buy some spears, hand made!"
I turned to face a man in one of the market booths, and smiled softly. " No, Thanks!" I called out to him. ' I must had wandered in the shopping area of the village.' I thought to myself. ' Great!" I said sarcastically.
I didn't want to be bothered, not anymore, I think after Zane's funeral....I woke up to the fact that I wasn't good enough to be a part of the team, some leader I was...I was suppose to be the cornerstone, the rock on which I carried each of my brothers, and I promised myself that day that I was going to bring each one of them home....alive...
No, that day I carried Zane's body back to home, dead and broken.....
" Thief! You darn kid, bring that back!!!"
I huffed, and turned around to see what the noise was, again, but someone else greeted me. " Ow!" I gasped at the shock when a small child ran into me, and hid behind me.
I turned to face the kid, and then back at the angry shopkeeper. " Mister, that kid stole one of my apples, now you see each one of those apples is very precious...In the desert you don't get to see many fruit out here..." he explained, probably he was afraid of me beating him up, or something.
I sighed, and raised up my hand, signaling him to wait a moment. I then turned to the kid. " *sighs* Okay, kid let me see that apple."
" I cannot!" he whispered.
My eyes widen, and then I actually looked at the young boy. He had a light blonde spiked hair, and very bright blue eyes....He almost looked like a little Zane! " Um....well, you see you didn't pay for that apple, so technically that's stealing.." I explained to him.
The boy shrugged. " Well, I do not have anyone to teach me what was right from wrong...So I was just doing what I thought was best to survive." he stated back.
My eyes widen with complete shock. ' How is a kid off the street this wise?!' I thought. I cleared my throat. " Okay, well now I know the difference between right and wrong, and I'm telling you as an adult that what you did is wrong..So are you going to do the right thing and give the nice man is apple back?"
The boy looked down, and nodded his head. " Okay..." the boy then walked towards the man and handed him the apple. " I am sorry mister for stealing you apple...It will not happen again.." the boy told the man.
The man's eyes shone with compassion, and smiled. " It's okay, son...now you go back to where your folks are.."
The boy nodded, and then disappeared into the crowd. I turned to look at the boy, and for one moment I thought he turned back to smile at be, just before he disappeared.
" That's the first time I've ever seen that one wandering around here.." he sighed. " He seemed to listen to you with ease.." he said, as he turned to head back to his booth.
I was left there in between booths, confused and lost, even more now. Could that really him somehow, or is the lack of everything starting to get to me?
I didn't know what to make of it, so I continued to my way down that dirty path, and hopefully to a place where I could crash for the night, but this time I plan on seeing that kid again....If he is my only way in seeing someone close to Zane...
