I decided to post another chapter before I went to bed as I sit here watching the Super Bowl game watching Denver get the brakes beat off their ass.  I hope you guys enjoy this chapter.  This chapter is rather dry to me, but here it is.  Thanks for reading.

Chapter 46

Several weeks have gone by uneventful, but Vincent and I started spending a lot more time together outside of work. I had called Shaun a week ago and had him meet me at my doctor’s office to get swabbed so we could check the paternity of the baby.  The results should be in this afternoon and Dr. Daniels told me she would call and let me know what it was.

My little baby bump was starting to show and I wanted to hurry and get these paternity tests done so I wouldn’t keep stressing out about my baby’s father.  My office phone rang and I picked it up on the third ring.

“Hello?”

“Nikki, this is Dr. Daniels, I got the results back and the test is negative.  So that should take a little stress off of you knowing that Kevin is the father.”

“So what will you do now?”

“Well I’m gonna call Kevin and meet up with him and tell him and talk about how we will handle the situation.  Thank you so much for calling and giving me the results. I’ll see you at my next appointment.”

“Ok Nikki, see you then. Good bye.”

“Bye Dr. Daniels.”

I called Kevin and asked if we could meet for dinner. Kevin quickly agreed, I told him I wanted some chicken so we are going to meet up at Gladys Knight Chicken and Waffles at 6:30.  I didn’t tell him why I chose this to eat, but after I tell him the news I’m sure he will know why.

I tried to keep my distance at work from Vincent so there would be no rumors spreading through the rumor mill that I am pregnant from Dr. Taricone.  I was breaking my own #1 rule to not pursue any personal relationships with co-workers.

Some of my co-workers knew that I was engaged to be married.  Many of them knew I had broken off the wedding with Kevin, so they would probably assume I was pregnant from Kevin cause they didn’t know about Shaun.

Vincent would come to my office to chit chat, but I still wanted to be careful that no one suspected that he and I have been spending time together. This weekend Vincent and I planned to go to the fair out in Marietta.

I loved going to the fair especially when I was younger my father would take me, my sister and my brother Alex and we would get on   bunch of rides, we would dunk the volunteers in the dunking booth.  Dad would let us play some of the games, we would visit the food booths and we would always stay for the free concert.

It was so much fun and I was so excited I could share it with Vincent.  He told me he had never been to a fair, and that made me doubly excited. I would be able to show him all the fun rides, all the fun games and the best food to eat.

I couldn’t wait for Saturday, but right now I had to get to dinner with Kevin.  I just want to tell him so we can get the testing done so we can make whatever arrangements we need to so I can move on with my life.  I know I have to be with him when we go to appointments, and when the baby is born.  I just don’t want him to think this is a reason for us to try and work things out.

I grabbed my things and walked out the door locking my office I needed to get home shower and change before meeting Kevin.

I headed down to the car and put my things in the car before getting in.  I pulled out my phone and texted Vincent and let him know that I had left for the day.
