"Sit down." My mom said.

I sat at the kitchen table as my mom started rummaging through the cabinets. I watched as she pulled out different herbs. It was like watching Cole that day at the cemetery when I fell and hit my head.

"Whatever you do," Kane said, watching over my mom's shoulder, "don't drink it."

"Why?" I asked without thinking.

"Why what?" My mom asked confused.

"I meant why did you all come looking for me? I was going to come back."

"Freya told us what happened." She said. "I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"What exactly did Freya tell you?"

I discreetly looked at Kane and gave him a questioning look. I didn't care what my mom said. Whatever her answer would be was a lie. That's all she ever did. She lied.

"She's casting a spell on the remedy to erase your memories." Kane said. "Clever woman. It's the reason why you have no recollection of being a witch. She made sure it was taken from you."

She took my memories from me. I could've practice my magic like everyone else, but she took that away from me. There was no way in hell that I could ever forgive her for that. My entire life had been a lie.

There was so much anger bubbling inside of me. The lights flickered on and off for just one second. I looked at Kane and his eyes were on me.

"Calm down. She will find out that you know unless you learn to control your emotions."

I took in a deep breath and looked at my mom. She was looking around the room and then her eyes landed on me. For some unknown reason she looked scared. I tried to smile to reassure her that everything was fine, but she didn't look convinced.

"So what are you making?" I asked. "Cole kind of did the same thing last week. He made me some tea. It wasn't that great."

"It's just something that will relax you."

"Really?" I raised a brow, daring her to say otherwise.

"Yes."

She placed the mug in front of me and waited for me to drink it. I grabbed the mug and smiled at her. I wasn't going to drink it, but she was clearly waiting for me to do so.

"Go ahead," my mom nodded to the mug, "drink up."

I smiled and brought the mug to my lips. I pretended to take a sip from it. I wrinkled my nose and wiped my mouth just for her benefit.

"I'm going to bed." I said, taking the mug with me. "Thanks for everything, mom."

"I love you, Balire."

I nodded and headed up the stairs. Once I was in my room I dumped the tea in the small trash can by my nightstand. I would have to take it out later but it was the best I could do. I shoved other things in there just so my mom wouldn't see it.

I noticed that my room looked neat compared to what it had looked like an hour ago. I wondered if my mom pulled out some kind of magic. There's no way everything would have looked in place so fast.

"Tomorrow when you see your mother she will ask you what you were doing all day in your room. You must pretend as though today never happened." Kane said.

I whipped around and he was leaning against my door. I took in his appearance and realized he was really good looking. He looked older than me, but not by much.
