It was nothing that raised Flynn's attention at first, the softest sound of something hitting the floor. It sounded no bigger than a pebble, really. But then came another. And another. And there it was again. But even so the blonde did his best not to halt the meeting between him and his two subordinates, Witcher and Sodia, of course. They were the ones most of Flynn's discussion was with, mostly the latter though, since the other knew more about the magic areas of their job rather then the politics. But it seemed as though even their eyes were drawn to the sound, able to see what was coming in through the open window from their place across their boss's desk. They were, in fact, small rocks, coming in and rolling to a stop along the floor of the room not far from where they had appeared. There were at least three more that made it through the window flawlessly before a ping of one of them hitting the side, followed by a quiet but exasperated groan.
"Aw, there goes my score, and I was doing so well too! Now I gotta start over!" said an all too familiar voice from the bottom of the window. It was almost too far away to make out the words from where they were sitting. But every single one of them knew who was the culprit. Both the knight and the young mage looked back to Flynn to see how he would handle it, seeing that he was ignoring it as if this was just like any other day in his life. Which in reality it was a common occurrence to have some sort distraction from his annoying, but most favorite rogue. But this specific assault on his work time was new.
So the three continued to discuss for quite a while after that first moment of realization as to who was waiting for them to finish, since it seemed Yuri was entertaining himself with trying to get a certain score. If he had really wanted to get his attention so much he knew the other would have no second thoughts about coming and climbing up through the open window, having done so many times before. But it only lasted so long before the other grew impatient with his lack of notice.
"Aw, come on, Flynn, I know you know I'm here! How much longer is this going to take?!" he yelled up, not able to outlast Flynn's greater amount of patience. There was a very soft, triumphant grin on the blond's face as his best friend finally broke and called up to him first. He really could never get it through his head that he couldn't always pause what he was doing to deal with him. Well, it was more like he just didn't give a shit, because obviously he knew.
"Please, excuse me for a moment," he interjected, standing up from his place at his desk. He turned his back to them and looked at the dozens of rocks that were strewn about the floor of his room. He muttered a soft, "Really, Yuri?" before continuing his way over to the window. He looked down at his best friend, who was currently sitting on the ground, rolling more rocks between his fingers, one arm resting atop a small basket he could only figure was lunch. Something that Yuri knew he often ended up skipping in favor for his work, sometimes without even realizing. As sweet as the gesture was in reality he seemed to always come at rather inopportune times. "Fifteen minutes, I promise. Then I'll be down. I just need to wrap things up."
That wasn't at all what he had wanted to here. "But Flynn I've already been out here for at least ten minutes," he said and proceeded to start a new game, still tossing rocks up to the window, though this time aiming to bounce them off of Flynn's armor as he was talking. "You're too much of a work-a-holic, you're going to end up starving yourself," he told him. He knew why he was, since he was working towards that dream they shared, but sometimes he wished to find out every way to bring out the lower-quarter troublemaker he knew was still hiding away inside of him.
Flynn looked disgruntled as he made a completely valid point, that he had once again stalled eating. "Fine, fine, ten," he bargained, which didn't seem good enough for Yuri, judging by the look on his face, "Not even five?" He had barely finished his sentence when it happened. One rock aimed just a little too low, hitting him square in the forehead instead of grazing over his head like many others before it had.
And that was it. At first it seemed that when Flynn disappeared from the windowsill that he had gone a little too far with that one. He would have thought that he had returned to his meeting, probably for longer then he had originally bargained to give him. But what the nearly forgotten underlings could see, Flynn was removing the metal parts of his outfit that made up his armor. Once it was all off he had flipped one of his shoulder guards over, filling it up with the stones that were on the ground, and eventually he had a nice little collection.
With a look of mischief that they'd never seen on him before he returned to the sill, rocks still in hand. "Oh now you've asked for it," he said and grinned, picking up a pebble and quickly chucking it down at Yuri. It hit him in the shoulder and soon enough his best friend shared his previous expression. Another rock came up in retaliation, though was narrowly avoided as Flynn readied his next throw. Soon it was an all out barrage of rocks flying back and forth between the two, each using their opponent's discarded ammunition for their own purposes. Both of them had broke into fits of laughter too, unable to contain themselves since they were having way too much fun like they had when they were little. Though both had the thoughtfulness not to aim for places like the eyes, that would be less then fun if either were to get actually hurt. This was the playful and almost carefree side of Flynn that Yuri was hoping for, and today he found it.
Sodia knew of his past, partially. Things like where he had grown up and some of the rumors passed amongst guards about some of the duos previous mishaps. LeBlanc especially knew some nice stories, though to Sodia it always seemed as though Flynn left that side of him behind, even if his friend hadn't. But here he was, in a rock war and laughing as if he didn't have a care in the world besides the game they had made out of this. "Uh, sir...?" she finally spoke up and momentarily halted their play fight.
"My apologizes, Sodia, I believe we'll have to continue our meeting tomorrow after all," he told her, surprisingly formal all while still avoiding the incoming projectiles from what was now behind him. And for the second time today Flynn did something completely unexpected to all parties here. He dropped the shoulder guard to the ground, not even caring about the fact that the rocks inside it went everywhere again, and turned himself back to the window. It only took him a second, not even enough time to tell if he had actually thought about what he was going to do, and effortlessly made his escape out his window.
It startled Sodia at first, when he had just jumped out. But upon running over and looking outside she found that he was absolutely unharmed. Though what she saw instead wasn't exactly to her liking either. Yuri had joined in the blond's escape and they were running off together, trying not to land on their faces as they attempted to run while still laughing at the whole thing. While one of Yuri's arms still held the worn-out, little picnic basket the other found it's way to linking itself with Flynn's, helping to pull him along beside him.
"You have to admit, as much as it's distasteful for them to be companions, Sir Commandant would work himself to exhaustion without him," remarked a shorter voice from beside her at the window and slowly bringing her away from her thoughts and back into the room. And that was probably the only thing that had kept her from toppling out herself, since apparently she had leaned out farther and farther to try and keep an eye on the two.
Eventually Yuri and Flynn were off on the wind and probably wouldn't return until morning. "I would hate to admit to you being right," was all she needed to say as they both left to go tend to other things, leaving the remnants of the battle still there for any who may come looking for Flynn.
