Chapter 9

        "Tell me all about it!" Autumn begged me as we walked into the school on Monday.

     "What is there to tell? He got hurt and stayed at my house for the night because he needed someone to take care of him.” I told her, honestly nothing happened, well there was the cuddling but I’m not going to tell her that, she’ll freak!

     “He stayed the night at your house and you’re telling me nothing happened?”

     “He was injured! What do you expect?” Seriously am I supposed to try and make a move on my injured team mate.

     “I expect that one of you make an effort to show each other that you’re interested because he totally likes you!” Ugh! Sometimes Autumn could be really pushy, she wants me to be as happy as she is with Louis.

     Just then I saw him walk into the school I smiled at him and he smiled back, at least I though he did, he didn’t even notice me he walked straight past me to Lily. Lily, oh how i despise her, everything I have she just takes it from me like just now, when I thought I was getting close to Chris she goes and takes him away. When we were younger I had gotten a new barbie and I brought it to school to show all of my friends, I put back in my bag and when I went looking for it later it was gone, the next day she showed up with the very same doll. she just really gets on my nerves and now with Chris, I can’t stand her!

     “I guess you weren’t kidding nothing happened, at least nothing that meant anything to him.” Way to make me feel good Autumn. I need a quick way out of here.

     “Oh I totally forgot, Mr.Baxter wants me to come to class early today so I gotta go.” Please buy it, please buy it!

     “What why does he want you there early? You’re like a straight A student.” She always has to question everyones motives, the one thing I dislike about my best friend.

     “He wants me to come and help him set up a powerpoint, he’s not very good with computers.” It was a perfect excuse because it’s true he’s not good with computers at all.

     “Oh I’ll come with you.”

     “No there’s no need just go find Ian and Anthony, I’ll catch up with you guys later.” I ran off towards class and once I was out of her view I ran into the janitors closet. I can’t lie to you I cried a little. I took out my phone and texted Ian.

Kaylee: Janitor closet, math hallway, 1st floor 

Ian: Why?

Kaylee: Just come, quickly

Ian: On my way  

     A few minutes later there was a knock on the door and his soft voice came through, “Kaylee it’s me, can I come in?” I got up and opened the door and as soon as he saw me he hugged me. “What’s wrong Kay?”

     “I thought we were connecting, I thought we were special, I let him stay at my house but he’s acting like I’m not even there and he’s with Lily and I should’ve known.” I cried into his shoulder.

     He smoothed down my hair as he spoke, “Sweetheart forget about Chris he isn’t worth you’re time. You can find someone that will treat you so much better.” it didn’t help me one bit to hear this it made me feel worse because I only wanted him.

     “I thought he felt the same though, he led me on! I can’t play the rest of the season, not with him. I’m quitting the team.” I took out my bag and handed him my jersey and my socks.

     “B-but you can’t just quit! Especially not him! Please stay, we need you.” It was sweet of him to say but they don’t need me and I really didn’t want to stay anymore.

     “I can and I will, you bring those to coach Tony at practice and tell him I can no longer play.”

     He shoved the clothes back into my hands, “Kaylee I’m not doing that you’re not quitting!”

     I threw them back at him, “Yes I am. I am done with this! I will switch to girls like I should’ve a long time ago. I can’t look any of those boys in the eye anymore so I am done.” I shoved past him and walked out of the room and headed off to class, how would I focus today?

Later that day in math class

     “So Kaylee, I heard you had Chris over the other day. I just wanted to let you know that you need to stay away from him because he’s mine, we’re going to be official soon.” Lily’s squeaky voice said from behind me.

     I turned around gave her a disgusted look and said, “And what makes you think I want him? Any one who settles for you is not good enough for me. Besides we’re just friends, why would I want someone like him?” Totally lies, every word of it, I obviously want him, I’ll do anything to get his attention.

     “Really? Because I saw you make googly eyes at him today when he walked in and the way you rushed to his side after he got hit, most people would think you have a thing for him.” That little retch I would knock her on her ass if I got the chance.

     “I’m his friend I care about him, I couldn’t help but notice you weren’t there when he got hurt, you didn’t even come to the hospital, if you’re so close then where were you? And another thing, I did not make googly eyes at him, I was worried about him because coming to school can be hard on you so soon after a concussion.” I couldn’t help it I added, “He got hurt trying to defend me, would he take that risk for you?”

     She gasped, "I would've but they said no visitors allowed and I am sure he would defend me seeing as I'm going to be his girlfriend." She was so cocky.

     "Excuse me but I stayed with him the entire time, I doubt you even came to the hospital. Are you potentially his girlfriend in your mind or his because I don't think he's that interested in people like you." That should shut her up.

     She opened her mouth like she was going to say something and then closed it again. I had her beat in every way. It felt good, I was finally victorious against her, I had the last word. I turned around with a triumphant smile on my face. She didn't say a word the rest of class.

Oh my gosh I am so sorry it's been so long since I updated, I have been really busy with school and my hockey boys ;) and haven't had time to write.
