"Ariadne! Ariadne!" Screamed Darcy . She gasped when she felt something tug at her hand.
"Be quiet or we'll get caught." Ariadne whisper yelled at Darcy, who was still in a shock.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again" said Darcy. Her voice echoed through the dark walls of the small chamber- like room they were in. "I thought you were caught by her ".
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you like that but I think I have some traumatising information." said Ariadne. "Wait, don't tell me you found a way to get out of this place, this place is kind of giving me a headache" said Darcy pointing to her temples.
"Actually Darcy, there is no way out of this place which is why the people who came here never got back to the academy. The people who come here, start searching for the exit which they never found, they wander in these tunnels, losing the track of time and finally die of hunger."Ariadne said finishing with a sigh.
"What? How can there be no exit to a place?"exclaimed Darcy feeling really angry. She looked at Ariadne for some more details but Ariadne remained silent.
"There is only one way, and only one of us can make it through." Ariadne said finally breaking the uncomfortable silence. She sounded nervous and kept fidgeting with the stone in her hands which shone in rainbow colours.
"There is a portal which can take you to the edge of the forest, but it is not as easy as you think it would be because it is right under the throne of the witch queen Amalie." Ariadne finished. Darcy looked confused "What do you mean only one of us? And even if only one of us makes it through the portal, how in the world are we gonna get there?"asked Darcy in a helpless tone.
"Actually I have something to tell you, something that no one knows except Jake and I."said Ariadne. Darcy looked at her with a 'the -anticipation -is -killing- me' look.
"Um.. Amalie... She's my twin sister."said Ariadne. "Did I hear that correctly or is this place really messing with my brain?" Darcy asked. "She doesn't even look like you, you both are not similar in any way."
"She did something terrible which caused my father to disown her" answered Ariadne. Once again silence filled the room. Through the crack in the wall, a small ray of sunlight entered the room. That caught their attention. Ariadne turned towards Darcy and shoved the stone in her hand saying" Take this, this will open the portal. You jump right through it and don't wait for me. The academy needs you to defeat the queen."
" Ariadne, you need this stone to survive and we need you because you have to lead the battle and-" Darcy said before Ariadne cut her off saying " At dawn you must lead them. Darcy, the fight does not end with me, as long as my blood reigns there will be someone to fight against her." Ariadne said.
Without much further delay, both took off to find the throne room. After a tiring search, they entered a hallway. Ariadne froze in her tracks and turned to Darcy and said "Go"
The last thing Darcy saw before jumping through the portal was Amalie attacking Ariadne and she was knocked down on the floor...dead.
