She was young,
Mind plagued by insecurities.
When she looked in the glass
She didn't see straight teeth or great hair
Instead she saw all the flaws.
From dark marks to pigmented skin
Which was a reminder of suffering,of agony,of blood spilt.She sat in the dark
Memories reflected in the stars above
They winked willing her to cut through.
She sat and realised that there was no Prince Charming.
She wasn't the girl men would go to war for,
She wasn't the girl that only ever saw herself at a man's beck and call.She stood then,
Shook off the dust that
Had covered her heart,
Accumulated from self loathing,
She picked up the sword
And decided to fight the monsters herself.
She awoke.
