The black haired barmaid passed two drinks down the table to Loki and Thor, Thor talked excitedly of his girlfriend, Jane. Loki sat across the table, not even bothering to hide his boredom. A cloaked warrior across the crowded room caught his attention. The warrior made his way across the bar, toward Loki and Thor's table. Loki nudged Thor, to put his attention on the warrior. Thor's ice blue eyes narrowed, recognizing the thief of the Queen, Frigga's diamond necklace. He nodded to Loki, signaling for an attack plan. Loki put his black booted foot in the thief's path. The thief let out a yell as he fell to the ground, Thor grabbed the scruff of the thief's cloak, pulling him, kicking and struggling out the back door. Tossing a coin to the barmaid as he went. "Where is it?!?" Thor yelled, throwing the thief on the alley's cobblestones. Loki kicked the thief causing him to whimper. "Where is it?!?" Thor yelled again. The thief began to crawl to crawl away, and Loki snagged his cloak, ripping it off. Golden hair cascaded down to the ground. Thor and Loki stood eyes wide in shock, the maiden pulled herself to her feet, and began to run. Loki mentally shook himself and tore after her, "Wait!" he called after her, but she did not stop.

Freya's heart raced, her breath coming in short gasps. How dumb was she to mistake the Asgardian Princes for her friends! Especially a week after stealing from the Queen! She touched the cold metal around her neck. Freya loved the way it glittered in the sun, but food came over beauty at this point. Large hands gripped around Freya's wrists. "Thought you lost us?" Loki murmured as Freya struggled under his grasp. Thor pulled her sword and dagger off of her small form. His fingers found the necklace, "Well, looks like we're in luck, Loki, she kept it!" Thor undid the clasp and put it in his bag. "Let's get this rat to her cell." Loki began chaining Freya's bony wrists, pausing when he realized how small she was, obviously from lack of food. "Thor, I think we should let her go." Loki whispered. "Are you crazy brother?! She must pay for what she has done!" Thor shouted. "Thor! Look at her! She won't survive in a cell!" Loki snapped. A low growl filled the alley, Freya's head snapped up. "What is it?" Loki whispered, "You have to get out of here!" Freya panicked. "I think not!" Thor laughed. "Then get out of sight!" Freya retorted. "Why....?" Thor began as Loki pulled him into the shadows. Three shapes materialized from the other side of the street. Freya sunk to her knees. "I heard voices!" one of the yelled. "Who were you consorting with, Freya?! Palace men?!" another called. Freya kept her eyes to the ground. "Where's the gold?!? Freya you better not be hiding something from me!" the third, the leader shouted angrily. "I don't have have anything today. I...." He kicked her in the stomach. She gritted her teeth, tears rolling down her cheeks. "Who said you could speak?!" he kicked her again. "I think you know what happens when you don't deliver, Freya." he murmured. The two others pushed her gruffly against the wall, cutting the back of her shirt with a dagger. The leader pulled out a glass tipped whip. "I think fifty should do it, right boys?" they all laughed. He whipped her, all of them laughing. They dropped her, bleeding, onto the cold stone. "Don't you forget tomorrow Freya!" they laughed, walking out of sight. Thor and Loki emerged from their hiding place, walking towards Freya's crumpled figure. She pulled herself gingerly to her feet, and tied a shawl around her waist to fix her shirt. "WHat are you going to do to me?" she whispered. Loki looked at Freya's bleeding and bruised body. "We, are going to take you to the palace, and we are going to clean you up." Freya's eyes widened, not believing what she had just heard. Thor raised an eyebrow, "How and why would we do that?" he asked haughtily. " I will not leave this maiden here to fight for her life!" Loki answered proudly. "Hey! I can take care of myself just fine!" Freya remarked. Without warning, Loki scooped her up. "You put me down!" she fought weakly, and soon gave up. "Alright 'Princess Freya' let's get you to the palace." Freya rolled her eyes, and fought back the urge to smile.

When Thor, Loki, and Freya arrived at the palace, many questions were asked, but with the help of Loki's 'silver tongue', Odin and Frigga were told that Freya was a princess back home in midgard, her mother, the Queen, had sent her to Asgard for her protection. Princess Freya's carriage had been ambushed by thugs on the way to the palace , which they accepted almost too quickly. Day after day Loki asked of Freya's past, but she refused a single detail. Freya was certain Loki would shun her if he found out what she was. "How about where you're from?" Loki asked clearly annoyed. Freya shook her head. "You'll find out when I want you to!" she smiled at Loki's playful frown. Without warning, he lunged at her, knocking her flat onto the bed. Loki stood over Freya his emerald green eyes full of mischief. He pulled his long fingers through her golden curls. " I would like know you better, Freya, if you'll let me." he murmured. He leaned in to kiss her rosy lips. There was a loud rap on the door, causing Loki to pull himself away from Freya's unusual purple eyes. " Come in." she called, pulling herself to a sitting position. A stone faced guard pulled open the door, " The Allfather commands both of you to the throne room." he said gruffly. Freya's heart leapt into her throat, knowing Odin didn't want her for good reasons. Odin had finally put it all together.
