                                                                                    (Riley)

I'm a simple girl who lived a simple life till my mother left. That day there where no words to describe the pain the ripped through my chest as I saw my mother pull away with my two siblings, that's when it hit me that she was leaving me here... My own mother left me with my drunken father.

Everyday started the same, get up, make my dad food, go get ready for school. school was a new concept for me, I had always been the protection of my home while learning, but dad didn't have time to buy me new books and the money wasn't there due to his drinking problem. I make him a pancake and some orange juice for after he wakes up, he's usually hungover and doesn't get up till after I leave for school. He just heats up the pancake and gets the juice out of the fridge.  After I finish with his breakfast I grab an apple (I'm not much of a breakfast person) and head up to my room quietly.

I finish my apple and jump into the shower and do all the needed stuff. once I get out I throw on a pair of black skinny jeans and a loose gray t-shirt, I don't really like a lot  of color because it draws attention to me and that's the last thing I need. After I get dressed I throw my curly brown hair up into a bun and grab my backpack. I run down the stairs and out the front door. just as I make it out I see the bus pull up "perfect timing" I think to myself while I take a seat in the front, no one likes sitting next to the driver because she's "mean" to all of them, I however love her! she's kind of my mother figure and she doesn't let anyone be mean to me on the bus. sadly she can only protect me on the bus once I step out of those accordion doors I'm on my own.

The bus jerks to a stop once we've reached school. It's not really that bad here, all the teachers are really nice and the kids are okay as long as you stay out of their way and mind your own business which are two things I'm very good at. I step off the bus to find my best friend waiting for me "James!" I hug him tightly, he's been out of school for a few weeks due to health problems. "hey Riley!' he squeezes me tight "I missed your hugs" I giggle and take a deep breath "how the heck do you always smell so good! I don't understand" my voice cracks a little as I make my speech to him "I missed you too goofball" he chuckles and pats my head "and that is because I naturally smell awesome" he states while walking with me into school "well I guess this is goodbye till lunch" I sigh sadly and hug him, we don't have classes together her till after lunch, he hugs back "I'll see you then, don't miss me to much" he kisses my cheek and goes down the hall to his locker.

I walk to my locker and grab the books I need for the next two classes since they are the furthest from my locker. I hear the annoyingly familiar  giggles of the only reason I hate school, Becky Gray, the schools popular slut. I turn around to face her and her posse "hello Becky what can I do for you today?" I smile as I talk, my parents always told me to kill people with kindness but someone people don't die easy. "I heard you where talking to Connor, what have I told you about that?" I roll my eyes, the guy she is talking about is the star quarter back for our school team but I only talk to him when I'm tutoring him, he may be hot but he's to arrogant for my taste. "I only talked to him because I had to, he's all yours." I smile and start walking away "Don't walk away from me I'm not finished talking to you!" she shouts I spin around "actually you are done talking to me, I don't have time to listen to your crap I have class and I'm sure you have some guy waiting for you to do god knows what!" on that note I leave her with her jaw hanging open.

My first three classes passed by uneventfully since James wasn't in them, don't get me wrong I don't like him like that or anything but he's the only person that I feel I can let my guard down with. I walk into the lunch hall and walk to the football players table, James is on the team and is also brothers with Connor otherwise I wouldn't sit here. James pulls me onto his lap and starts tickling me, I brake out laughing but then I notice he's only doing it so I don't see Becky on Ayden's lap, he is the school player but I cant help but want him, he's always so sweet to me and flirts with me a lot which makes James made because he knows what he's like but I think he could change if he had the right motivation. I sigh and relax into James "you okay?" he whispers in my ear I nod slowly "I'm not that hungry, I'm just gonna go get some fresh air" I get up and hug him from behind "do you want me to come with you?" I could hear the concern in his voice, he knows I get depressed sometimes and have a past of doing things that are less then desirable during those times. "I'll be okay I promise, you stay with your team" I kiss his cheek and walk out the back door that leads to a forest type area...
