"is that park jinyoung?!"

jinyoung turned around when he heard someone shout his name, looking around for anyone he recognized. however, there was no one. suddenly, a girl with orange-ish hair came running up from behind him and jumped onto his back, almost making him fall over.

"oh my god, i've missed you!" she exclaimed with a wide smile as she hopped off his back, wiping her hands on her pants. jinyoung looked at her, obviously confused. "how are things with jack—"

"who are you?" jinyoung asked. the smile dropped from the girl's face and she looked momentarily hurt. "what do you mean? it's me, daeun..." she said, pouting. "i don't know anyone named daeun..." jinyoung felt bad for the girl. "you've got to be joking, right? i was only gone for a couple of years, there's no way you could forget me that easily."

"oh, i got into a car accident over the summer... had amnesia for a while..." jinyoung mumbled, feeling even worse for not remembering her. his mom told him he remembered everything, so why did he suddenly feel like it was the opposite?

daeun gasped, placing her hands on her cheeks. "oh my god, really?!" jinyoung nodded and began voicing his thoughts. "my mom said i already remembered everything, but i guess not 'cause..." he trailed off, gesturing towards the girl in front of him. she rolled her eyes at what the boy said and carefully placed a hand on his shoulder. "i'm sorry to tell you this, honey, but your mom is kind of an asshat. no offense."

"anyway, we should hang out, like, right now. we gotta catch up, you know? i could try to help fill you in on stuff you don't remember." daeun offered with a smile, wiggling her eyebrows at jinyoung. he thought about it for a moment before shrugging, then nodding. "sure, why not."

the girl's smile brightened and she clapped her hands together. "great! we should go chill at this cute little café nearby, but you should give me a piggyback ride." jinyoung looked at her with a strange expression. "why would i do that?" this resulted in daeun letting out a sigh.

"because i love piggyback rides, okay?" she said, pouting when jinyoung didn't respond. "please, jinyoungie~" it was jinyoung turn to sigh and he shrugged yet again. "i guess so..."

jackson was on his way to class when he heard someone whining, the voice sounding familiar. "please, jinyoungie~" he turned around after hearing the nickname.

the boy was surprised to see his boyfriend— yes, he still referred to jinyoung as his boyfriend because technically, they never broke up— crouching down a bit so a girl with orange hair could get on his back. jackson frowned, feeling a little jealous.

"is that... daeun?" he asked himself, the jealousy fading. he didn't know much about the girl, but jinyoung had told him they were more like siblings and jackson trusted the younger boy whole-heartedly.

jinyoung and daeun were now sat in the café, sipping the coffees in silence. finally, after a few minutes, daeun spoke up. "so, how are things going with jackson? do you still have a crush on him?" she asked while wiggling her eyebrows yet again. jinyoung looked at her in confusion, his head tilted slightly. "who is jackson?"

daeun slammed her hands down on the table as she stood up abruptly, her chair almost toppling over. "god damn your mother! of course she would've kept jackson a secret from you!" they were the only customers in the café, yet the workers still shushed the girl. "i bet she was waiting for something like that to happen..." she grumbled while sitting back down in her chair, her arms crossed over her chest.

"what a pleasant surprise!" they heard someone yell in an excited voice. just then, a girl ran up and engulfed daeun in a suffocating hug. "hyangsook!" daeun squealed and hugged the girl back.

someone cleared their throat and the three looked up to see another girl standing there, her arms crossed and a slight glare on her face. hyangsook laughed and let go of daeun, walking to the other girl and pecking her lips. "sorry, babe." jinyoung and daeun both wrinkled their noses, jealous of the two.

"jinyoung, this is hyangsook and the one who, if looks could kill, just decapitated me is hyelin." jinyoung bowed his head toward him, the girls doing the same. "it's nice to meet you." the boy said quietly.

without asking her girlfriend or the others, hyangsook quickly pulled up a chair, pointing at it and staring hyelin in the eyes. the pink-haired girl sighed and sat down, resting her head on hyangsook's back once the latter sat in her lap. the four began talking, getting to know one another.

daeun told jinyoung as much as she knew about his past, but only a little about jackson since she left to study abroad around the same time jackson moved to korea. she told jinyoung all about how he had a massive, but not obvious, crush on the chinese boy and he was the only thing jinyoung talked about for the entire week before she left.

jackson went straight to his room after his class, wanting to take a long, long nap. he became bored quickly and pulled out his phone. he scrolled through his contacts, letting out a long sigh as he did so, and stopped at jinyoung's name. it didn't say jinyoung, of course, it said 'loml' with a couple sparkling heart emojis.

the boy sat there while staring at the name for a few minutes before gathering enough courage to hit the call button. instead of ringing, a voice immediately spoke, telling jackson the number was no longer active. he groaned in frustration, tossed the phone onto his nightstand, and pulled his blanket over his head.

jackson wanted to talk to jinyoung, but he was afraid and knowing jinyoung had no clue who he was definitely wasn't helping. he was afraid of what could happen. if jinyoung did end up remembering, what would he say? what would he do? would he be upset with jackson for being such an idiot and crashing the car? or, would he be upset because jackson hadn't come to him sooner?

jackson's phone buzzed and he frowned before reaching up to grab said phone. it was a text from jaebum, asking if he wanted to go to a party tonight. he shrugged to himself and typed in a quick reply. why not?
