THE APPLICATION

I had just turned 18 and my mom officially kicked me out of the house. She said i had to get a job or i would be one of those homeless people with the signs that say, "Will put on cloths for money." I had three days to find a job, so i did what any responsible person would do, look in the first newspaper i saw. The first few jobs were garbage. Literally being a garbage man which didn't sound like much fun so i kept looking. Bar tender, taxi driver, and assistant teacher. None of them seemed right for me, and then i saw it, "night guard wanted at Freddy Fazbear's pizzeria". "Come be a part of the show." It was perfect i love animals and robots so it is like a sign and for one-hundred and twenty dollars a week. It was settled i would be the night guard for FFP. Gosh they got to work on that acronym, anyway what could possible go wrong.

It was my first day on the job and i came in extra early to see how the place looked in the day. As soon as i walked in, standing on the stage was Freddy Fazbear, a giant brown bear singing a song that had no meaning or common sense. You couldn't even hear the lyrics. To his left was Chica the chicken. She was a dullish yellow and a bit more, round then the others, but i don't judge. She was holding a cupcake with eyeballs and had a bib that said "let's eat." on the far right was bonnie the bunny. A purple bunny with a red electric guitar with pointed ends. His ears were always moving ten seconds after his head. How realistic. My vision was caught by a curtain with purple stars covering it. The sign on top said Foxy's pirate cove. I was wondering why no one else was looking at this. I slowly walked to the cove and peeked in the curtain. I saw a fox with a pirate hook and an eye patch. His head was down and he wasn't lively like the others. He was shut down. I reached to touch the fox and i saw a vision of a little boy, about twelve years old, he was being chased by a in a man in a purple uniform with a knife. The little child had his eye cut and was running looking for the nearest exit. The boy made a sharp turn around a corner facing a dead end. The chase came to an end when the man cornered the boy and, like a tiger, took the kill. I was pulled back to reality when i heard Freddy start saying actual words. He seemed to be looking straight at me.

"Re-re-remember boys and girls," he said, "bad things happen to bad people, so if you see someone who needs help..."

There was a long silent pause until he screamed in a blood curling voice, "help me!" After that a lot of kids started crying and their mothers took them home. I turned back to foxy and reached my hand out to see if i could witness the vision again but just before i could touch the fox it sprung to life making me to jump back and fall into the manager.

"Hey there, you lost?"

I quickly got to my feet. "No just looking around. I'm the new night guard."

"Mason, mason ross?" He seemed very shocked.

"Yes? Is that a problem?"

"No. I was just expecting someone, nerdier."

For some reason that offended me so i tried to change the subject, "why is the fox shut down."

He responded cautiously as if he was afraid someone was listening.

"Foxy the pirate was a good fox. Until he went crazy. The mainframe must have glitched or something because he started saying things like, 'there is a reason purple is at the end of the rainbow' and 'a stage is not a stage when the walls are curtains.' then the weirdest thing happened. He just started shutting down and i went to go get the tools from the back room. Big mistake. As i left he....sprung back to life and he just shut back off. Every now and then he gets a jolt of life, but he isn't going to be in the spotlight. Ever again"

He seemed to over enunciate the last part. "Ever again." what did he mean by that? After that we just stood in silence until he filled the void with sound.

"What are you doing here so early? You said you were the night guard, so shouldn't you be here at night to guard."

Almost prepared for the question i said, "I just wanted to see what this place looked like in the day so i could familiarize myself with the entrances and the door codes."

He laughed even though it wasn't even remotely funny. "That's cute. You think that you get to walk around see what's-what?"

"I did, until you said that"

"Follow me." he grabbed my wrist and pulled me through a hallway into a small room with papers scatted across the floor, a rotten cupcake, and a poster of Freddy and the gang.

"What is this place?"

"This," he said finally letting go of my now red wrist, "is where you will be on your shift. You do not leave this room."

He turned and pressed a button next to the door. Not a Nano-second later the door came crashing down.

"These doors are your new best friends."

I stared at him and he must have noticed my silence because he said, "trust me kid, you don't want to be walking around at night in this place." there was a long pause. "
