Chris drove down the winding rode as he kept telling himself to stay awake. He knew he had to let Brandon and Derek rest, they had been driving and were tired. He had to step up, prove himself. Make everyone know he was a viable member and not just a monster. So he drove.

He would doze every now and then but he didn't think much of it. Eventually he reared to a part of the road that seemed to go straight for awhile. He let himself go. For a second, maybe even half a second. His whole life could change in that time. His entire being could be different in the matter of that single second and he didn't think anything of it until he was upside down screaming at the top of his lungs as he felt pain in his entire being.

His first thought was the pain he felt in his leg. "Help!" He yelled knowing he couldn't make it out on his own. He looked down and saw the nasty injury to his left leg. He cried as he tried to free himself. Once 20 minutes had passed, Chris thought he was dying out there. In a truck with the people who had made him become a monster; but, he decided that wasn't his story. He wanted to be the one who lived. Not the hero, not the protagonist, but the one everyone was rooting for. He made a decision to survive, to be with his father and Maddy. To go home.

With everything the boy had left in him, he pulled on his leg screaming as he did so. When he was finally free and crawling his way out of the damaged car, he knew his leg was gone. He could see his bone and he knew there was nothing they could do for him, but he had to see his family one more time.

Chris struggled until he was in the middle of the road desperately trying to make his way home. He stopped as he hear feet padding on the ground. He turned around sharply and saw the place where the noise was coming from. Brandon and Derek were making there way to him. Thank God! He thought as he assumed they were there to help him. Wrong. Then and there, Chris' life almost ended at gun point to a man he called a friend. Chris laid there fear stricken as he remembered what he had in his right pocket.

In an instant, Chris was not the only body on the ground. Within seconds, Chris had taken out Brandon and Derek before they could do it to him. He cried. Chris stared at the sky as he cried for what felt like days. His entire life and everything he knew was different. All it took was a second.

After hours of laying on the ground, he heard voices. "My baby!" Cried one.

"My son!" Another. Chris managed to make out the voice of his father, but who was the other. It was female, but not Maddy or Alicia. It was his mother. A minutes confusion and Chris was crying again. Both his parents calling for him to come back, not knowing what was to turn. Chris weakly opened his eyes and saw nick shaking him, his dad violently sobbing, Alicia in Maddy's arms crying.

They were rooting for him, monster or not. He was their family and they loved him. He felt a wetness on his face as nick cried, which he never did. "Hey, hey hey hey hey he's not gone!" Nick yelled to Travis as he shook Chris's face ever so lightly. Chris didn't jphear it though, he was listening to his mom.

"Come to me Chris, it's time. Your father said he would take care of you and now it's my turn." His mother said.

"Chris don't you die on me!" Travis said picking up his broken son. Chris' vision began to blur as he felt closer to his mom. Still not able to speak, he just listened. His mothers soothing voice fell over him, and soon he felt nothing at all.
